I'm not sure that there is one, but many will no doubt think that it's Larry Graham.

Ummmm...you do that whole Mozart/Salieri rivalry is fiction...right?
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

They don't need to be rivals to be compared and contrasted. lol

Without "compare Prince to.." threads, this forum would literally shut down.

Marvin Gaye is no Salieri because Marvin Gaye is pretty much on Prince's level. I would say Rick James would be the Salieri, the one who thought he was just as good, but really wasn't and he knew it deep down and never got the same appreciation from the masses, and then went crazy in the end.

The way this comparison is framed makes it sound as if they were rivals when, for the most part, this was not the case. In fact, Mozart and Salieri collaborated on at least one occasion, and there are numerious instances in which Salieri actually promoted Mozart's work.

In several ways, Salieri was the more successful of the two. He taught many reknowned composers (including Beethoven) and Mozart's own son (after Mozart's death at 36).

Well, I suppose this is the Prince : Music and More forum. Too bad your knowledge of Mozart seems to be based on the movie Amadeus. That is equlivalant to someone basing their knowlege of Prince and his music on the Purple Rain movie.
But hang on.....Prince did wear that frilly shirt/neck tie thing. Now, my memory of Amadeus is a little weak...but, did Mozart wear high heels?

Yes yes, of course.

But the premise behind this can be likened to the supposed rivalry between Prince and MJ. It's not that we believe it, but just gives folks something to compare and contrast.

Hell, this could have been a Megatron vs. Incredible Hulk thread lol shrug
