I've talked to both Lady BG and Tune Up Man and they've both acknowledged my calls on air just minus the Is That Mojo? parts. I also know that after I called this morning, they started announcing that they are going to throw down this weekend like they did last weekend.

I've got 105.9 fm programmed on my mp3 player that goes with me EVERYWHERE, so I'll keep listening and trying to figure this all out.

I think Mojo, that is Charles Johnson, is Program Director there. Which would explain how the majority of their playlist is all "Mojo-esque" material. Case closed.

Why all of a sudden has the station's format completely changed to be VERY reminiscent of Mojo's golden days and there's been absolutely no mention of Mojo. Not even a shout out until I called the station and made Lady BG say a little something about him.

Here's my theory...

Mojo(Charles Johnson) being Program Director, put out the idea of doing the funk thing to turn around the station, which was loosing drastically to 92.3 in EVERY time slot except 6am-10am when they play the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

They were testing his theory on Saturday nights, which is what I was hearing for the last few weeks. He's got some kind of gag order because he hasn't said a word and WON'T ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE!!!! I think that is because 105.9 knows that if Mojo said one word, he'd shut the city down. We'd know his voice instantly and it'd be all about Mojo instead of 105.9! So he's only been able to get his message across the best way he knows how, through the songs and he's trying hard!

Especially during this past weekend, when 105.9 had this big funk fest with it's guest DJ's. Mojo did everything in his power without saying a word to let us KNOW that he was down there. He's been watching this board, there isn't another soul down there that would know what the hell a Prince.org is!

When he played Mesopotamia last Monday, he did that because he knew we'd know that was him! Mesopotamia has not been on any radio station's set list in 20 years!

The only problem is...I seem to be the only person in this city that really paid attention to Mojo back in the day! He talked through the songs he played all the damn time! It's how he got away with so much of the shit that he did get away with. Like leaving the station unattended. Ain't that right, Mojo?

What I just don't understand yet, is if he really wants to be on the radio, why they 105.9 won't let him and is there anything we (Mojo friends and fans) can do to help?

Now they're(105.9) announcing that they've got a surprise for us on Monday.

They're saying that "Someone we all know has made the switch to 105.9 and will join Lady BG at 5 and our drive home will never be the same and they'll let him tell us about it!"

That description could only be one of two people. Mason who is currently on 107.5 and just got there a few months ago or Mojo!

I'm thinking it's Mason because of the emphasis on the word "switch" which implies that this person is currently on the radio somewhere. However, Mason going to 105.9 isn't a big enough deal to be making an announcement about, in my personal opinion and if it is him, that'll only turn off a bunch of folks like me because Mason has gotten very boring and preachy and frankly won't fit in with the new format in my personal opinion, at all like the One and Only Electrifying Mojo would!

On the other hand, if it's Mojo, like I'd prefer it to be, I'm gonna make sure I'm not driving Monday at 5 o'clock because I know I'll totally loose it as soon as he starts talking.

That man EDUCATED, FUNKED AND PARTIED DOWN with all of us, every damn night ... I've been "watching the skies" ever since he left us back in 98-99. I have to doubt strongly that today's corporate radio climate would let Mojo be himself and do the same sort of sets he used to back in the day. You're not going to hear Fleetwood Mac followed by Queen followed by Prince followed by "King of Rock" by Run-DMC live on two turntables - not on 105.9 . I say any Mojo is better than none at all, and 105.9 as a whole has been rockin it for a while now with this new "funky" format of theirs. Don't get me wrong, I'VE LOVED WHAT I'VE BEEN HEARING! Sure, I'd love to hear that Mothership land once again, I've even got a signed copy of his Mental Machine book!
