Anybody know what the silent tracks on the New Power Soul cd mean?

There are several silent tracks at the end of the New Power Sould cd between "(I Like) Funky Music" and "Wasted Kisses". Does anyone have a clue why they are there?

Nothing...He did the same thing on Rainbow Children and Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic.

Well Wasted Kisses is supposed to be a hidden track so it's pretty obvious. Why there are loads of short tracks instead just one long one is beyond me though. It would have been much quicker to do.

The whole thing I find kind of annoying because you can't really do random play. Wasted Kisses is a great song though.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

It's quite a common practise for artists to include these silent tracks when including hidden tracks. CD's I remember also doing this are Nine Inch Nails - Broken & Blur - Modern Life Is Rubbish (US Edition). Better than the hidden track on Nirvana's Nevermind, it was hidden at the end of the last track on the CD so you had to skip through ten minutes of nothingness to find the track.

Yeh, there's a bonus track right at the end ain't there? Wasted kisses, it says on the inside, hidden on a drawing in the booklet, with "wasted Kisses" written and the skip track sign next to it

Yeah, I know alot of people do it but what I'm saying is why would you put in 20 short tracks, when you could just make it one long track.

I don't suppose there is any particular reason why, that's just one of the ways they include hidden tracks.
If it was one long track no doubt someone would ask why he didn't hide it amongst 20 short tracks.
I don't think there is any hidden meaning behind this as the previous post mentioned (7x7=49????). Some folks will try to find hidden messages anywhere, that's been going on for years since The Beatles "Paul is dead" rumours and the "backwards satanic messages" in 80s metal albums.

Oh, so the purpose was to 'hide' the hidden track? I guess that makes sense...
