Happy Birthday The Gold Experience!! September 26, 1995 - The Gold Experience was finally released in North America.
Some other things that happened on Sept. 26: 1969 - Abbey Road, The Beatles last-recorded album, was released in the UK (don't even try to compare TGE with Abbey Road - I love TGE, but there's just no contest...) 1974 - John Lennon's Walls And Bridges album was released. 1984 - Purple Rain / God was released as a 7" and 12" in North America. Some good music...

for me...the gold experience is probably his best work since 1995! What a great album.

'TGE'? Some REALLY cool songs on there - 'Shy', 'Dolphin', 'Eye Hate U' - but after ALL the hype that surrounded this album, it doesn't really live up to it, IMO.A bit too over-produced for my liking. But it's Prince so, hey, it's ok!
I'm gonna get FLAMED for this!

All it needed was the full-lenghth Days of Wild and Rippop..., to make it superb
instead of great. | |

ORIGMD - absolutely! 'Ripopgodazippa' is a FANTASTIC track! Such a cool vibe. He could've also included 'Acknowledge Me' too (and left off 'We March').
Is it just me or does anybody else prefer the single version of 'TMBGITW'? I love the single version, but the album's is too slushy for me.

TGE has too many stadium fillers for my liking.

The Gold Experience would have been MUCH better if it hadn't been so over-produced. Endorphinmachine should have remained a raw, live-sounding rock track, TMGITW should have been the version off The Beautiful Experience. Furthermore, both P Control and 319 sound over-produced IMHO.
Then, We march and should have been left off, and Interactive and Days of Wild in its place. What would you think if TGE would have been sth like this? Endorphinmachine (a rawer version, but with the seque: 'hello, you have just accessed... , etc') Shhh Days of Wild (studio version) The most beautiful Girl in the World (single version) Pussy Control (less polished, and certainly not the Crystal Ball version!) Dolphin Interactive Shy Billy Jack Bitch 319 I hate U Gold PS: sounds so good, I think I'm gonna make me one of these! 555-4444 you're on coffee talk.

Happy Birthday Gold- it appears while everybody loved you about a year ago, people have turned on you and don't give you your due respect. You'll always be one of my favorites though.
And by the way, if he had included the horrible studio version of Days of Wild, it would've been much worse... That song is overrated anyway.

Whilst we are on the subject of 'Billy Jack Bitch', does anybody else, apart from me, rate the unreleased extended version of 'Billy Jack Bitch', the one including the 'New Dell's Inn' horn portion? As far as I'm concerned, it's a riot! . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

Oh yeah, there's nothing like that extended version! It was a huge mistake to cut off those extra couple minutes of mind-blowing horns...

There are precisely two unreleased versions of 'Billy Jack Bitch' doing the rounds, RdHull. The first one (and the one I was referring to ) is 7:08 mins in length, and quite excellent it is too. The other version is from the unreleased "The Versace Experience (Prelude 2 Gold)" tape which was handed out to guests - including Madonna - at a Versace fashion awards show in Paris, in 1995.You might remember Prince performing a (yet another unreleased) version of 'P.Control' during this event (he lip-synched to the backing track, but the performance was ace). The short version is a remixed edit of the released version of 'Billy Jack Bitch'. This one is only 2:31. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Just a word of caution: first make sure you're not referring to a boot called "Versace And Other Experiences", which features only butchered contents and snippets of the aforementioned tape, whilst incorporating fakes (non-legit DJ mixes of tracks like 'Pheromone', 'Race', 'Loose!' and the like). In a nutshell, the CD is pretty worthless IMO. However, if you own a copy of the actual contents of "The Versace Experience (Prelude 2 Gold)" then cool. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. That must be the one. Just for the record, the tape contains complete versions or edits of released Prince and NPG tracks, as well as edits of the unreleased Madhouse 24 tracks, 'Rootie Kazootie' and 'Sonny T'. It also includes new remixes of three 'The Gold Experience' tracks which you cannot get anywhere else: the two remixed versions of 'Billy Jack Bitch' discussed earlier. It also features the 'Eye Hate U [remix]' (which combines the "Quiet Night" and "Extended Remix" versions of the song), as well as three 'P. Control' remixes: 'P. Control(Club Mix Edit)'#2 (3:04), 'P. Control (Control Tempo Edit)' #3 (1:23), and 'Chatounette Controle' (2:38), which has some lyrics in French spoken by some unidentified couple. These must be the ones you mentioned earlier. The tape also features an unreleased 49 second segue, titled simply 'Segue'. It leads into the last track on the tape, 'Gold', which is the same as the released version. The segue says: "Welcome to the Dawn. You've just accessed the Beautiful Experience. This experience will cover courtship, sex, commitment, fetishes, loneliness, vindication, love, and hate. Welcome to the Dawn. You've just accessed the Versace Experience." This speech precedes 'The Most Beautiful Girl In The World' on 'The Gold Experience', but, according to TURNN IT UP 2.0, Prince has looped parts and either slowed down or speeded up parts of it on the Versace cassette. In all, it's a nice curio. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."
