TRC will make a wonderful coaster Yes, in 10 years, I predict that the TRC CD will be used as a very popular beverage coaster by those 50,000 fans who purchased it.
I've seen the future and it will be. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

No, I'll be listening to TRC whilst putting my drinks upon the coaster known as Rave. Now there's a great coaster, its the only use I'll ever have for it. TRC on the other hand, is a great album. -----------------------------------------

More importantly, is it my job to entertain you? Since you like TRC, you must be easy to entertain! End this post with a Morris Day like laugh and a YOUNT. Ah this thread won't do well... TRC is very popular with the fans you know! If you're gonna poke fun at an album, choose an easy target like Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic
TRC is fucking marvellous.

At first I didn't mind it, but now I really don't care for it. It's lacking something... it just feels wrong to me...

Azure Star is right. It does feel wrong. Yes there are a few fans who liked it, but obviously not enough to make a dent in any sales charts or radio charts. The album will be seen as an extremely flawed attempt and never as a classic. I congratulate those of you who like it, but there is nothing that you could say that would prove it to be otherwise. Now, how many of you actually bought it rather than kept your copy from NPGMC? Hmmm?

Now, how many of you actually bought it rather than kept your copy from NPGMC? Hmmm? Here we go with the charts again. There's always somebody whom cares about the charts and how well the album did mainstream. Some of you base actual, musical success on how well it did mainstream, or on the charts Take a good look at what's on your beloved charts That's not music! It's marketing! Drink Pepsi, drive Cadillacs, wear this clothing and these shoes! WAKE Up! TRC is extremely religious, that does not take away from the fact that this album touched on musical genius that we haven't heard from Prince or any artist in years! It's potent JAZZ-FUNK, and it's beautiful (my opinion). You'd rather here Britney and NSYNC? no offense because they're artist whom work hard, but that is NOT music... Come on, if you only go by Billboard. I'm sorry to say, you're just as shallow as the music which Tops its charts This isn't directed towards anyone in particular, just those whom believe that BillBoard is their musical bible... and Yes I went to work (Best Buy) and purchased the CD. And everyone I know, whom ears the album penetrated, wanted a copy of their own. Blue [This message was edited Mon Sep 30 11:02:58 PDT 2002 by TheBluePrince] Blue

BluePrince I totally agree with you.
I really do not understand the position of all the quotes here. On one hand we say that Rave and NPS, etc. are coasters on the other hand a complete contrary work like TRC is supposed to be used as a coaster as well. What exactly is wrong with TRC? The lyrics? Ok, I can follow that argument for a while. I don't like the idea of reading the bible to understand all the rainbow children stuff and this and that. But I can easily relax and let the music flow. That album is the best since years. Here his genius is revealed once more. If you are more into the charts go ahead and buy some Mariah, Britney, NSYNC... (that all is called music, but in fact it is a product designed according to market trends and promoted by marketing people). That is not what I am looking for. To use a known term: I want "real music, by real musicians", if you get my meaning. So to my understanding TRC is just a masterpiece. For those who did not read the signs: The time of putting an album that will top the charts are over!!! But who cares??

confession time:
I DONT CARE ABOUT CHARTS!!! *and* TRC SUCKS!!! the songs were great sounding during ONA...but they lack vitality on wax...prince seems to have a major problem transfering his work to cd now...i feel no emotion out of it..i really thought the songs were just boring jazz/funk light... but then prince shocked me and played these tunes live, and they rocked...maybe one day he will be able to bring that live eliment back into his sound...

I just don't get it?? TRC is fabulous. I am not religious in any way, shape or form. I do not believe in organized religion and I firmly believe that JWism will not be Prince's last relgious belief either. However, I find TRC to be a masterpiece. It is not the best lyrically, but musically, it kicks the ass of most cd's released around the same time. Sometimes the lyrics do bother me and I think Prince is so arrogant for saying what he does, but on the whole, TRC is amazing and those that just don't get it or won't be bothered to try are missing out on an amazing piece of music. You must remember it's a concept album. Get it???

I've seen the future and it will be. your prediction is wrong already...cause I am part of that 50,000 and I for ONE wouldn't use any CD as a coaster espescially a Prince CD...I mean c'mon...who really would? silly boy. "not a fan" yeah...ok
