Hi, I have most Prince albums but I'm missing these albums. What do you think of them, eventually I'll pick them up, which one should I get first? Cheers

Every note, every key is perfect. But I have to say that it does grow on you after a while. You get the idea that he was trying to make the best album..for you..to listen to. (Forgive the pun). In Love, Just as Long As We're Together, Soft and Wet and My Love is Forever are the jams. Baby is a KILLER ballad, that quite possibly bring tears to your eyes. I'm not too fond of So Blue and I'm Yours sounds like some generic rock prototype that he wrote five minutes before he recorded it.

Prince on the other hand is very solid. On some songs you hear Prince moving into a more rock-oriented direction with songs like Bambi (The Jam!!) and Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad. But he still get down (and funky) with songs like I Feel For YOu, Sexy Dancer and of course, I Wanna Be Your Lover. There are some amazing ballads on here including With You, Still Waiting and the ultimate one It's Gonna Be Lonely. The only song I don't care for on here is When We're Dancing Close and Slow. This one has a more spontaneous feel to it and just hits you harder and more immediately. It's a party starter, it can be background music, it's just a more versatile album.

As a Prince fan, you have to start from the beginning. These are guaranteed to change your life or your money back! J/K.

Honestly, For You is one of his worst albums. Prince is pretty good but it also has a few weak points. But you should get them because they both have some great songs, and for the sake of completion.

u need to just get them both. if u get one, then you're just gonna run out and get the other after listening to whatever one you get 1st. they're both really good listens.

Prince first. Its a better album and has more hits and the soon to be Chaka Khan hit "I Feel For You". For You has its moments like "So Blue", "Soft and Wet", "In Love", and the title track. But doesn't compete with the second effort. For You is a rookie album with the typical rookie flaws while Prince is now a little seasoned and more polished. But get both! Just buy Prince first.

Get "Prince", then "For You".

I think I bought them in order

they compliment each other
"sister albums" if you will

I believe I like Prince better

Both are flawed, but worth the buy. Half of For You is good to great, while about 3/4 of Prince is excellent.
