Prince's hero is King Solomon - because he had a thousand wives.

LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Prince's hero is King Solomon - because he had a thousand wives.
The flamboyant musician, who is a Jehovah's Witness, admires the Biblical figure because of his enormous number of lovers.

Prince - who is renowned for his sexually explicit lyrics and penchant for the opposite sex - said in an interview with Giant magazine: "The Bible is like the guidebook to help men and women with their sins. If I'm going to get some advice, wouldn't I want it from Solomon? That man had a thousand wives. I mean, I want to talk to the guy who had a thousand women!"

The 49-year-old singer also revealed he is considering writing a symphony for his next album.

Prince - who over the course of his 29-year career has released almost 40 albums - said: "I might try a symphony, I might try composing something with flutes. At this age, it starts to more be about what the gift is and then what your role is."

The 'Purple Rain' singer - who is currently in the middle of a 21-night residency at London's The 02 Arena - sparked controversy last month when he gave away his latest LP 'Planet Earth' for free.

The record was distributed with Britain's Mail on Sunday newspaper and is also handed out to everyone who attends his concerts.

Yea, so now I can respond, I think it's great he's talking about religion in a humorous way! He means it yet we dont have to fear him going off on a shaming rant against folk. I feel like lately he has been more free flowing and dare I say it? Silly! It's great! A symphony would be different, if its anything like the teasers we hear when he has an orchestra like sound on some songs, I think it would be interesting.

I think a man who can't read music should stay far, far away from trying to compose a symphony.
No hard feelings.

this is hilarious! i loved reading the user comments on the site. oh man, i'm tearing- I'm loving this!!! lol lol He seems more laid back and willing to joke around, and less worried about what his religious views look like to others. props to Prince! clapping there is no one "true" religion, therefore, I'm not going to say that JW is wrong or bad. I don't know enough about it to make an opinion- the same goes for alot of other people, and yet they still criticize him. It isn't fair.

Even JW's have a sense of humor, I know I do! I'd like to talk to Solomon too and ask how he was able to handle all the scheduling, complaints, jealously, nit picking and nagging from those 1,000 women! lol That is ALOT OF BABY MOMMA DRAMA to have to deal with! lol

Rememeber, they were WIVES. The article takes a slight turn in the first paragraph calling them "lovers" yes wives are lovers too but Prince said "wives". Anyone else notice that?

The actual interview is posted at HQ and pretty much states what he said in the interview. I notice how the article above kind of twisted it

I just read something this week about the queen of Sheeba and King Solomon that was very interesting. They had a son and he was known as the Lion of Judah. I'm not that good with history but I starting referring to my youngest as an African Princess and she asked me if there were any real princesses anywhere other than Great Britain. My mission was to educate, but I learned something new too.

Its indicative of how the human brain works. Even though the bible lables Solomon as the wisest man to ever live, he's P's hero because of all his wives... confused wink

A thousand wives WAS the norm. Have we read any history prior to the New World, we'd know that this was very common and expected and really, not something I'm against. My brother and I have these poly-amorphorous conversations ever so often. A man with more than one wife is fullfilling himself on more than one level. You know? He'll have his cookin woman, his dancing woman, his massage woman, his pedicure woman, a musical woman, his tall woman, his tomboy woman, his cleaning woman, his business woman, his weed smoking woman. A woman for EVERYTHING a man could want when these characteristics simply are not found in just one person...

Get on Prince! That's my baby even if you is 20 years old that me.

Okay, I'd have to admit. I'm curious about what a (or several) Prince symphony(s) would sound like.

The whole King Solomon thing, makes me think a whole lot of things. zipped

A symphony huh!? Could be interesting. He wants to delve into something new...well...I can imagine a full blown Princely Symphony composition before a full blown Country Western album.
He gets it! That's why the ladies love him...batting eyes

King Solomon was wise, and while that's cool and all, I think P could step it up
and look directly at the source of all creation for inspiration.

A P symphony would rock. Beyond that thought, let the man get deep into the
heart and/or the throne room of the uncreated One and then see what kind of new
sounds he creates. Music co-created from eternity then released over the earth.

There is at all times a divine exchange going on between heaven and earth, you
just gotta tune in is all. Scripture refers to this as "spirit to spirt, deep to
deep".

There are new sounds to be had, the Creator is a creative force who longs for His
creation to come into fullness.

Just saying, you know, in case those thousand wives got all bitchy at the same time.

"That man had a thousand wives. I mean, I want to talk to the guy who had a thousand women!"

RELAX Prince! You probably have had more women than that, but I wouldn't brag about it, and knowing the guy (even if it is in the Bible) who had a thousand wives, well ... it's not really a selling point to women, but rather quite nasty. Unless nastiness is still all your looking for ...

thing about that though .. is Prince better read the Bible some more.. cause God was upset with Solomon because of all those women he married .. I Kings 11:1-3 (it says those women messed him up and turned his heart away from God...)
