wow, what a dishonest interpretation of what he said. Prince did not say he admires him because he had 1000 wives, which is attempting to present Prince's admiration being dependent upon his bulk of lovers. Prince said if he was going to get advice from someone, it would be from someone who had 1000 wives, which could be for a plethora of things, not simply sexual conquests. advice in no way equates to hero.

I don't know what is more shocking, the dishonesty of the reporter or the fact that none of you were able to catch it.

Prince - who is renowned for his sexually explicit lyrics and penchant for the opposite sex - said in an interview with Giant magazine: "The Bible is like the guidebook to help men and women with their sins. If I'm going to get some advice, wouldn't I want it from Solomon? That man had a thousand wives. I mean, I want to talk to the guy who had a thousand women!"

That's a good point. nod
It could mean a lot of things- that a man with 1000 wives has had a lot of experiences dealing with people & situations, that he could learn from his 999 mistakes, that he did take God's displeasure into account (according to Flowerz) and doesn't want to make the same mistakes in the future...
We can only speculate- which is being an Orger is all about! lol

^Prince simply made an offhand comment in a half joking manner and it is being discussed...I see no reason to attempt to put any spin on his comment it or sugar coat it in any way...why try to make excuses for P when none are needed?

I don't see anything shocking about any of it.

Exactly the point I was about to make. It's a mis-quoted line from a 6+ page MOJO article.

Good article with some insightful stuff (in my opinion) from the journalist.

Worth picking up if you can.

To somewhat understand this musician I have listened to for years, as is the bible written upon the heart...He must mean something like; 999 girls with small feet, isn't the same as a woman that can walk next to a king as his equal. And remember...If he put King Solomon higher than Jesus, He wouldn't have said, "I'm not the one."

I have mixed feelings about Prince saying he wants to lead others to the truth, and in order to do that, you have to have the truth of GOD in your heart and your actions. I think Prince feels GOD in his heart, but then he goes up on stage with dancers who he allows to wear dresses that are very suggestive, not to mention their undies showing when the do flips in the dance routines, and supposidly making some sexual suggestive comments or actions with his microphone during his London concerts. How do you lead people to christ when you are saying one thing, but doing another?? I am not juding him, only mearly telling it like it is, as a christian I do not remember reading that Jesus ran around with sexually suggestive women and saying sexaully based things, because he was GOD'S truth, he lead people to the truth. Prince is still on the wrong side of the fence, thinking he can mix sex with christ,it ain't happening, he still does not get it.

The quote selected by this journalist has been taken out of context from the Giant magazine.
I read the Giant mag interview and I am confused. Prince seems to contradict himself. He first says that he wont fall for drugs, women, etc. Then, he says that he would like to talk to King Solomon, the man with 1000 wives. confuse

I came to the Truth because Prince got me intrigued... I started studying and caught on "fire".

As a Jehovah's Witness I must admit that I have seriously mixed emotions regarding Prince.

I credit him for drawing my attention to the JW's, but today, as a JW, he is unfortunatly way too comfortable on the edge.

Jehovah uses who he choses, no one can denie that Prince IS making the name known (rocknroll Hall of Fame was the "climax") but now, there is no doubt that he is often missrepresenting us, the Jehovah's Witnesses.

I love the JW flavored, Truth sizzled songs and I hope they soften the heart of others, like it softened mine, but many other songs and attitudes clash.

You know I've had some of the same feelings. But here is what I think:

This brother lives his life in the spotlight. If someone kept track and published everything I said and did they'd be like... aren't you a being a little hypocritcal? And I'd say.. I'm not perfect only human and I'm doing my best.

Something else to keep in mind. Most things that are "reported" about Prince are half-truths or outright lies.

King Solomon was wise, and while that's cool and all, I think P could step it up
and look directly at the source of all creation for inspiration.

A P symphony would rock. Beyond that thought, let the man get deep into the
heart and/or the throne room of the uncreated One and then see what kind of new
sounds he creates. Music co-created from eternity then released over the earth.

There is at all times a divine exchange going on between heaven and earth, you
just gotta tune in is all. Scripture refers to this as "spirit to spirt, deep to
deep".

There are new sounds to be had, the Creator is a creative force who longs for His
creation to come into fullness.

Without any comment: The Song of Solomon by Kate Bush, 1993:

The Song of Solomon
The song of everyone
Who walks the path
Of the solitary heart
The soul cries out
Hear a woman singing

Don't want your bullshit, yeah
Just want your sexuality
Don't want excuses, yeah
Write me your poetry in motion
Write it just for me, yeah
And seal it with a kiss

Mmm, just take any line
"Comfort me with apples
For I am sick of love
His left hand is under my head
And his right hand
Doth embrace me"
This is the Song of Solomon
Here's a woman singing

Don't want your bullshit, yeah
Just want your sexuality
Don't want your excuses, yeah
Write me your poetry in motion
Write it just for me, yeah
And sign it with a kiss

And I'll do it for you
I'll be the Rose of Sharon for you
I'll do it for you
I'll be the Lily of the Valley for you
I'll do it for you
I'll be Isolde or Marion for you
I'll do it for you
Ooh I'll come in a hurricane for you
I'll do it for you
A wop bam boom

I could not agree more, if each and every one of us was in this mad magnifying spot light, none of us would look all that great.

in the mean time, at the "RnR Hall of Fame" induction he gave a great advice to noobs. "Ur true friends and mentors are not on Ur payroll" I just wonder how many True friends he really has now.

True friends are the ones that help U strengthen Ur spirituality and relationship with God.

ANYONE else that "trivializes, justifies and taunts" any of our shortcomings is NOT a friend.

The God-given counsel is clearly to hate what is bad and it could not be more needed than today where "bad" has become "cool".

We all can see the increase of selfish, greedy men that exploit the weaknesses and sinful tendencies of their fellow humans.

Unless we are strongly opposed to bad, we may be won over by it. Because we are born sinners, our inclination is toward bad. (Ps. 51:5; Gen. 8:21; Rom. 7:14-25)

That is why it is not enough just to love what is good; we must also hate what is bad. Jesus Christ ‘loved righteousness and hated wickedness.’ (Ps. 45:7; Heb. 1:9)

We must do the same to endure until the end in this system that the Devil designed and rules. (1 John 5:19)

Jesus declared: “He that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved.” (Matthew 24:13)

Let's not be fooled, there is no "shades of grey" of indifference in this matter.

The black and white principle that Jesus stated applies here: “He that is not on my side is against me.” (Matt. 12:30) Jesus was not indifferent, but actively and uncompromisingly took his stand as a hater of what was bad.

Jesus took this position, who R we as "Christians" to interprete and adapt it to our own biased standarts or misunderstandings?

Who would dare to challenge this? (He would tolerate the presence of whicked people until he gave them the option to become his followers, but he would then "dust off his feet and move on.) Matt 19:16, Matt 10:14.

If we R not with him in a similar hatred of the wrong we R against him by being a lover of the bad.

Put yourself to the test:

Are Ur standards, the Christian standards set forth in the Bible? OR...

“U must not steal...much.”
“U must not lie...unless U are in a pickle.”
“U must not commit adultery...Xcept when U R in 'love.'"

Sometimes we hear the law being trivialized, amended, justified:“U must not get caught stealing, lying, committing adultery, etc.

R these our standards?

No doubt they R not those of God, Christ Jesus or of true Christians, all of whom hate what is wrong.

What about our standard of morality?

Do we go along with those who promote new, popular standards with convenient escape clauses added?

Their half truths will say:
“I’m honest...up to a point.”
“I’m truthful...a good part of the time.”
“U can trust me...if U keep a video camera pointed at me.”
“The Bible’s Ten Commandments are gr8, but they are like the winning lottery ticket, happens and applies only to the others.”

so on and so forth.

A little spiritual food good for all needs wink

I'm glad you are so honest and open and admit that there is a definite 'clash' of attitudes.

I congratulate your sincerity because so many JW's here will not admit there is a conflict when there blatantly is.

I studied with JW's and was an Unbaptized Publisher for 6 years so I KNOW there is a conflict of interest. I'm not studying now for various reasons, but I'm welcome back if I so chose.

I love the guy and this is NOT a criticism but Prince is way to close to the 'edge' for a Baptiized Jehovah's Witness in many respects. When I saw the Twins groins spread out in silver knickers completely exposed about 5 times during a recent London concert I realised just how true this was ... .

Again, this is not a problem for a non-JW, but it is for one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

I partially agree, but the lyrics of songs like 'Mr Goodnight', 'The One U Wanna C'(i.e 'If you wanna get creamy') are not half-truths or outright lies are they? They are coming from Prince's mouth.

Neither are The Twinz state of attire or Prince's dress and heavy make-up.

U know "gotta bend in the wind but don't break" is true for many a thing in Life, but exposing Urself to the huricanes of temptations and thinking we'll "bend and not break" is taking the "Earth's hardest working Spirit creature" Satan the devil for a wet noodle.

Musicology tour was musicaly SO powerful and yet very """chaste""" (I can hear Orgers flip out on that word! ha ha)

What we see now with the new band and crew, is NOT halfway to the JW's (Jesus')standarts!

He claims to be a Baptized JW, which gives us the right and duty to point fingers and frown.

He knows it, he agreed to it before he got dunked in the pool wink

Trivializing and justifying his swaying away is NOT loving him the way he wanted to be loved by his Brothers and Sisters when he got baptized.

If he doesn't want it anymore, then stop claiming being a Jehovah's Witness.

U cannot slave for two Masters.
