What does Prince think of the Cure I'm sure he has a very nice opinion about those great Goth/Alternative Rock legends. I mean, a lot of my goth friends are fans of both artists, so they do have some similarities (especially Prince in the early 80's). But I never heard what Prince had to say about them. I wouldn't be surprised if he's never heard a Cure album. No hard feelings.

Now I wouldn't go that far. Maybe he has. Prince does have a diverse musical range, so maybe he has come across The Cure's music. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

he should have or needs ot - between the two of them they both produced the best 3 albums of the 80s:
all of which were double albums and 2 of which were released in the same year Prince = 1999 + SOTT and The Cure = Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me

Everyone knows Disintergration is the best Cure album. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I love the cure
I'd wish Prince would listen to them now, some of those old albums and be influenced by them!

Weird, I am listening to the cure and then saw this thread.
Some of The Cure stuff is genius. In Between Days and Lullaby anyone? The little fella would be proud of them two.

I don't think he'd agree with their ethos of trying to make the rest of the listening world so fkn depressed...

The Cure loves Prince, Robert Smith as expressed admiration in interviews (and despises U2).
I think The Cure sampled the prince beat used in the 7 remixes and 2 Whom it May Concern in their cover of Jimi Hendrix song back in the mid nineties. I could be mistaken. [Edited 7/31/07 18:09pm] My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I think he would find some of their stuff interesting, but wouldn't be too impressed with them otherwise. I think he'd find the smiths far more interesting musically, despite Morriseys constant whining.
If Prince would do an album like Disintegration I would spooge myself. Of course, Rainbow Children was just as depressing as Disintegration though not deliberately so.

I wonder about this too. They definitely were a kaleidoscope during the 80s, and I think Prince would appreciate that. They know how to bring a groove, too. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Yeah, the Cure had some groovy jams too: Hot Hot Hot, The Walk, Let's Go To Bed, Close To Me, etc. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

'What does Prince think of the Cure'
I imagine it would depend on the illness.

I think it's pretty clear
from various literature that Prince almost seems to have trouble listening to music by other people. Sure he's got a few favourites like Joni Mitchell and Sly, but he doesn't seem to have very varied listening taste or at least, doesn't appear to soak up the sounds of other artists for very long periods. I sometimes think he'd be a different, less prolific but perhaps more well-rounded artist if he did. Just my . [Edited 8/1/07 8:00am]

He thinks Robert Smith needs to drink less beer and that he is overmade up even by Prince standards !
