Undisputedly shite! For some reason i stumbled accross Undisputed while listening to some tunes tonight and I am convinced it is one of THE worst Prince songs ever - joining 3 Chain's o Gold and fucking Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance... [Edited 7/21/07 13:47pm]

but wasn't Rave the best Prince album since... when it was released in 99?
I bet a seacrh would provide a fan review of Undisputed as being reminiscent of great Camille tracks. this message brought to you by logic.

you've got to laugh at the irony of the line
"you're just my subject -that's why you're out of touch" what's this claim? out of what? why dear i am the touch i kinda prefer the remix a bit better, it's intentionally funny at least rutjf [Edited 7/21/07 14:46pm] and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

It's not one of his better tracks. Remix is ever so slightly superior. LOVE Illusion, Coma... though.

I don't mind Undisputed, though it's not great. Yes, the Moneyapolis Mix on Rave In2 was better. I would put it equal to ICP&C though. As far as Rave as an album is concerned though, in either version I still like it more than Musicology. I actually think Rave is decent. And 3 Chains O'Gold I can't help but love. It begs to be sung along to. "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. Better by far to embrace the hard truth than a reassuring faith. I too, I listen to Rave more than Musicology and it still brings back memories of the the summer of 1999. Check me out and add me on:

I love this song (and the album too )
I just like the way he breaks up the verse: "My level... is now... what you must learn to rise above... talk to... D'An... gelo... or better yet Questlove..." etc. Funky! [Edited 7/21/07 21:50pm] Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

This is not shite, God prince puts something different and he is lambasted for it, he puts something listener friendly and you all hate on that saying he's not doing anything new. Undisputed is different and experimental. Clear that wax out yo' ears! Top Five Prince Albums

Coma, Pimp and Circumstance is one of the better songs on Musicology. It's one of the songs that kept this cd from becoming a dud.

I think the verses are kinda cool but that refrain is pretty whack. It's pretty half-baked and kind of a let down because the verses have u thinking u might hear something cool in the chorus. It's like "Love" sorta but "Love" actually has a pretty decent chorus. But u gotta love the Linn.

take the sentiment of My Name Is Prince and chuck it into a really shit drum machine pattern (all the Hip Hop dudes use MPC3000s, not Linn 9000s), and try to make it better with a Chuck D rap....
DOES. NOT. WORK. at the core of thinking i originate? Originate my D-50, mofo! And i'm not talkin 'bout Roland synthesizers neither! Hmmmmm. Hot Wit U was worse... (Edit: i only added the word 'pattern'. I'm sure the Linn worked well on Bob George.) [Edited 7/22/07 17:15pm]

hate that song. my boyfriend and i used to be under the impression that the remix saved it. we listened to the remix a couple months ago. we had been mistaken. it still isn't very good. "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran

Id rather listen to undisputed than PE.
Seriously though, I hated Undisputed when it was new, but dont mind it now, its kind of funky.

I listened to Undisputed recently, and, at the time of it's release, it was one of the very few moments on Rave that I could actually stomach.
Listening back to it now, there was even less of merit than I recalled. The irony of those supremely self-assured (or deluded, depending on your POV) lyrics is striking. Talk about protesting too much - who was he trying to convince that he's still got it, the listener or himself? I see it as Prince filtering the self-deluded over-confidence of rap lyrics in his own way. That's the problem with a lot of this style of lyrical boasting - the music doesn't live upto the hype. Instead of pontificating no end about how hot you, SHOW us, with the music! Prince's thread-bare matter of fact lyrics about the music industry I find more offensive than others find his religious dogma. There's absolutely no hint of any engaging metaphor, either lyrical or musical, it's just a self-pitying, brattish rant. Undisputed my ass! We had some great, great music after 1999, I think Prince definately turned that corner, thank fuck.
