Mr. goodnight is a JAM

I just receive Planet Earth and Mr. Goodnight is off the HOOK. The rest of the CD needs to grow. FBM and CR is very nice but Mr. Goodnight ... biggrin

You know what ... CR isn't great as the sample I heard but it is still good.

Did he perform this at the target center 07/07/07? He performed a rap style song like Mr. Goodnight but I'm not sure if it was the same.

I need u to shake Ur lil' ass n hips
I need u to grind like Ur working for tips

lol falloff

I think it's not nearly as bad as everyone says it is. It's kind of funny actually when you listen to some of the lyrics. Prince is obviously having fun but not gong all "Poom Poom" about it. lol

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Poom Poom sends Mr. Goodnight to bed. It's about 20 times funkier.

It's the twin to Underneath the Cream. "The whup o' yer dreams." That line makes me giggle

Since when is Prince allowed to rip-off ten year grooves that were already ten year old ripped off grooves ten years ago? If anyone else release this (JT for example) everyone here would be tearing him a new one.

This is not "the jam!" nor is it "off da hook!" Its pure cheese. A failed attempt to be contemporary yet, its the most dated and stale track in an album full of retro sounds.

Come on, why does Planet Earth have to be nit-picked and analized to death? If the poster really likes the track...more power to them. If you hate it, move on to the next track...or the next album for that matter...or a previous album. What ever makes you happy. Just don't rain on someone elses Parade (no pun intended). I hated most of these tracks on first listen, but they've grown on me. I plan to pick my copy up tomorrow!

Gotta admit PE is one album I can listen straight through compared 2 Musicology (I skip Life O' The Party) and 3121 (I hate "the wall of Berlin" line of the title track and skip Love and Incense and Candles).

Same here! I don't understand why that line is soooo offensive to people!

Mr. Goodnite is an embarassment and yet somewhat of a guilty pleasure too. I don't know why Prince continues to pump out such generic, Topshop-background-music R&B... it really is quite beneath him.

But then I've always been a sucker for spoken word verses - I love his phrasing!
