Because this is an old book. I had it a few years ago, loaned it to a friend and never saw it again. sad Had GREAT pictures, in it, wasn't that big of a book, either.

The book was released through Virgin in 1988 and written by Barney Hoskyns.

The ISBN number was 0-86369-254-0.

It's quite a good book to look at but the text doesn't say anything that wasn't already known.

Barney Hoskyns wrote a couple of classic hatchet jobs for NME. One was on Prince, ca. 1983, and the other was on Talking Heads, ca. Speaking in Tongues. For a taste of his style try his review of Parade:

As you may be able to detect, he didn't like it.

"There I was thinking the little mulatto Amadeus was on the edge of a breakdown and suddenly he's all happy and relaxed and flirty in the 'Kiss' video."

Wow. That comment would never fly 2day.

Had the Book and the Video. Think I still have the video but the book is at an Ex's I've not seen for 6 years. I did have the Shiela E vid when he came on at the end to perform a LOVE BIZARRE. Classic live version, doing the Oak tree and all that with The revolution. Traded it it for 2 bootlegs. I was 17 but I am absolutely gutted now! Ah well, if only I'd kept it!
