Back in the early 90s, a friend of mine's dad was good friends with GB and he used to throw parties for GB when he came to L.A. to perform. Well, his pops came up to me and said "Don't mention Prince. George hates that dude." So me being the arrogant ass 20-somethinger that I was, at the party I asked GB point blank why he didn't like Prince and he said:

"Man, that dude isn't doing anything we ain't seen before and yet he gets all this credit for that shit. He's overrated as an artist and as a musician."

I sat there and was like "Wow, what a fuckin hater" to myself. As I walked off, I got teased in jest by his pops and some of GB's hanger-ons after his pops told him I was a Prince fan, but it was all good, I didn't get pissed I just kinda laughed at a grown ass man like GB having that much haterade in his system.

Thats strange especially since George has done several projects at Paisley and 1 of Princes main guitars is called 'The George Benson' and on the back George wrote a nice inscription to Prince.

I read in a brazilian newspaper that George Benson jammed with Chaka Khan and Prince in a small club around 98-99. And some people told me he guested on some Prince concerts around that era. Could somebody confirm?

Anyway, I hope George now acknowledges Prince´s talent. Both are truly great musicians.

I can't remember the year but I think it was around 93-95 during London concerts. I went to an aftershow and both Chaka and George Benson played with Prince on stage. George and Prince jammed on guitar together. I was there. Just can't remember which club and which year, but definitely between 93-95. I tend to think 93, the band featured Michael B on drums at that time.

True sounds right. Because, George has used Paisley Park Studio to record some of his albums. Furthermore, George also shares the same religious affliation.
