I know P had a relationship with Marvin daughter, but the thread starter made it sound as if Marvin was still alive & well (I Wish). I hate to burst their bubble!

Marvin died on April 1, 1984. Yeah, I remember the day because I was listening to the radio and the DJ announced it. I thought it was an April Fools joke. The DJ was very serious and kept stressing that it was NOT a joke! So Sad!!!

count them on one hand. The ones who revere him are a multitude. "so glam, it's absurd"

i no that Rick James didnt like prince and i heard sumthin about Marvin Gayve not liking prince. any more? Yeah but Rick James and Marvin Gaye both ended up with serious personal issues which I cannot imagine Prince would have anything to do with. This doesn't take away from their work at all, both, especially Marvin were amazing musicians and it's the music that counts. I believe all three artists would appreciate each others work despite their differences. May I add that George Clinton and Larry Graham, the two remaining forefathers of the funk both work with Prince regularly. The music comes first for the true funk soldiers. "so glam, it's absurd"

Andrew Mulligan - sports presenter in New Zealand. He hates Prince. He says so.

Rick James made peace with Prince about a month b4 his death with an interview.
Interview quotes: "Me and Quincy [Jones] had this discussion, and its a really sad thing, in actuality - music is dead. There will be no other Earth Wind and Fires, there'll be no more Billie Holidays, Sly and the Family Stones or Parliament Funkadelics. People get together now and they don't know anything about music. And I look at the artform of rap, the way they spit it, and some of them are brilliant, and they're poets, but some of it is just verbal diarrhea." James cited recent shows with the Ohio Players and Parliament Funkadelic, and even the new Musicology material from his longtime rival Prince as examples of funks staying-power despite todays unhealthy R&B diet. Never in my dearest life did I think I would ever like Prince, James said, before cracking up. I'm just so grateful for all the brothers out there in funk because its a resurgence, a revolution, a reincarnation ,its a total blooming of something that people thought had died. And speaking of Prince, James was still a little cheeky about the artist formerly known as The Artist, who reportedly sparked the rivalry when he kept upstaging the braided singer while opening for him on tour. "I don't have any grudges," James said of the Purple One. "He's a great musician. I'm just not into songs like, ˜If I Was Your Girlfriendâ" or me and my sister used to do this all night. But no, he's changed. He doesn't have a sign anymore. I guess there's a little bit of jealousy still there, but I know I'm better looking - and I'm taller." Interview took place in June-July 2004 and Prince even did a few of his songs in the acoustic set on several dates after his death and recently covered "Give it to me baby" late last month. Keith Richards---I recall an interview from the late 80s where he dismissed Prince, saying "Prince is the Monkees of this generation" Boy George---he's made several less-than-flattering comments about Prince throughout the years. Jackie Collins---she sued Prince in the mid-90s,claiming that he stole her idea for the "Get Wild" perfume or something like that, lol. Lita Ford---she's that stupid 80s hard rock singer I heard that,in 1984,she held up a Prince poster at one of her shows, and made fun of his "feminine" looks. btw,Marvin Gaye never had any problems with Prince. In 1979,he jokingly mentioned that there is a "new cat in town named Prince who thinks he's badder than me" and it inspired him to record the 'Love Man' album which was never released.

I think the author of the thread made it clear that he wants to know about people who DON´T or DIDN´T like Prince, and that also includes dead people.
Anyway.. Alec Baldwin Keith Richards Sinead O Connor Robbie Williams Rick James doesn´t count anymore, see the post above , and about Marvin Gaye I´m not so sure...read Dave Ritz´ bio " Divided Soul " for more info. Marvin didn´t really like Prince because he saw a rival in him but I´m too lazy to look it up now. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I don't think Russell Simmons is too fond of Prince, but I could be wrong I've read some unflattering comments he has made about Prince.

President Bush. He said, and I quote, "I think Prince is by far and away too astute a political thinker to be ignored. I hate his perceptive ass!" It was at this point the tape recording becomes muffled and you can only hear the distinguishable sounds of Ari Fleisher laughing and John Ashcroft saying something about "mailing his purple ass".

Interesting that Keith Richards has the opposite opinion of him than Mick Jagger who's always said positive things about Prince. I wonder if Keith wanted to join in throwing food onstage along with the other RS fans when they opened for them back in 80/81

Ron Woods is also a huge Prince fan.He even joined Prince onstage in the mid-80s,along with Sting.I don't know what Keith's problem is.

Chuck Norris. Apparently, Prince usurped him, once, at a Wendy's Burger restaurant, just outside of Toledo... Chuck has never forgiven Prince and has also forsworn vengeance on his offspring!

Elizabeth Taylor---In 1984,she was a huge Prince fan.She loved the 'Purple Rain' movie and soundtrack. In 1985,she invited Prince to her home for dinner and was offended when he arrived with bodyguards, who insisted on inspecting her home before he came in!! She angrily asked Prince "Did you think I hired assassins?".A few days later,Prince tried to apologize by sending her some crystal doves. She sent it right back, and has never spoken to him since.
what was Prince thinking?

And Prince called him up to join him on stage at kokos in London in May but Ron was already about to catch a flight out of the country that night so the good vibes are still there today.

Could some of these celebrities that are mentioned be jealous? Boy George?
He ruined his career through his own stupidity, Prince is a mega star and has been for over 25 years. Of course Boy George doesn't like Prince. Rick James? At one time Prince was his opening act. Compare careers. Of course he didn't like Prince.

Slash of Guns N' Roses---He's pissed because Prince walked right past him, backstage at the 1990 American Music Awards. The members of Guns N' Roses tried to talk to him but Prince totally ignored them."I didn't really care",Slash said."He looked like a fag that night anyway".

what was Prince thinking? He probably thought Michael Jackson was hiding in one of her closets. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
