Whether you like Planet Earth or not?

Disregarding your own personnal opinions on the Planet Earth would you agree that on the whole the album has got the thumbs up from the fans.

It seems to be his best received album since I've been on the internet and been able to see other fans views.

I'd say the majority see it as a really good album, not a classic but not far off.

The last three have had the same reception...nothing more special about PE.
Not only from fans, but the music critics all seem in unison about how good
the trilogy have been.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I don't know, seems like a real polarizing album to me.

I'm shocked to see how many fans (including friends whose taste I trust) don't like it all, while other, less-Prince-loving friends seem to like it a lot.

I'm really enjoying it, but I can already tell I'm going to burn out on it quickly.

That's the reaction I've been getting, most of my friends who are not into Prince really like it. Some are even going to buy it.

I like PE a lot better than Musicology but not as much as 3121.

Rave had even more "rave" reviews than this one, and now most ppl won't even admit they ever liked Rave.

While not as groundbreaking as TRC, his last three albums have been accessible and while not among his best albums, they're above average. I give all three albums 3 out of 4 stars but here's how I rank them:
1. Musicology
2. 3121
3. Planet Earth
I'm picking up the album tomorrow after work!!

I clearly remember my first spin of Rave, because I remember the day for other reasons, but I remember how on that first spin, my heart sank.

I think PE is polarising fans sure, like all Prince albums do, but it seems to be a different kind of polarisation to the previous couple of albums, Musicology or 3121.

SOMETIMES I IMAGINE ANOTHER SINGER DOING THESE VERY ALBUMS INSTEAD OF PRINCE..IT WOULD BE CONSIDERED GREAT ,BUT SO MUCH MORE IS EXPECTED OF PRINCE HIMSELF THAT WE TEND TO TAKE HIS EFFORT FOR GRANTED ...ALSO IF HE SPLASHED SOME "DIRTY PRINCE"ON HE'D BE GETTING RAVE REVIEWS (FROM HIS FANS AT LEAST)WE ARE JUST NOT USED TO HIM BEING "CLEAN" YET ...WE ALL STILL CRAVE FOR THAT "RAUNCHY" PRINCE ALBUM..I WISH HE WOULD SURPRISE US ONE DAY.

It's a fun CD. I think it's step forward from Musicology and 3121. Prince is having a good time. It's nice to hear him and Wendy and Lisa together.

And knowing him he'll make the live versions a million times better.

So if there's a song we aren't crazy about on the CD after we hear it live we'll be like "Yeah!".

I take it back; I think I'm beginning 2 love PE more than Musicology and 3121-- at least PE doesn't have the cringe-inducing Life O' The Party in Musicology and "the wall of Berlin" line in 3121.

I love RAVE too! I don't get why some people shot the album down though, because it was quite better than Emancipation, IMO...
