Been getting to grips with this album again recently and there's loads to chew on in it, but while I've always liked the title track I have been really woken up to it! Its a monster and actually really deserves, IMHO to be put in with some of his most innovative stuff . For me the track explodes at 4.39 for the next couple of minutes and then really take you on a trip all the way to the end - I know theres a lot of references in it to his JW belifes but its worthy of being called a Prince classic.

Too true. I believe this album will become the 'lost classic' everyone is trying to get their hands on when Prince is a little old man...

(edit: d'oh! I meant the whole album! as for the track - it's a great opener, but not one of the big jems on TRC, in my opinion).

Once it gets its claws in you, you won't want it to let go.

If the early part of this track was being dug, that instrumental coda will reach epic heights.
