Awkward, uncreative, Anti War lyrics, mixed in with Nursery Rhyme melody and a lil Beatles flair... YAWN! Not A Newbie, Just Reinvented

The main problem with this song
is the lyrics. (I stole that from someone -- but it's true.) We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It strikes me as a little Joni-esque. Lion Of Judah is a very Terence-like title. My Legacy

This song is really pretty and I love the production. It reminds me of The Revolution's songs. [Edited 7/27/07 8:57am]

Post it on your website, go Bono on the politicians, but keep it off the album. Especially if it only has 10 tracks. I think I want my $9.98 back. Life without music..... why?

the vocals are a little too "tra la la" bouncy for me and the general melody isn't terribly memorable or earwiggy. the lyrics feel rote. you can tell when prince really CARES about what he's writing about, because the man rambles like crazy and writes stuff that makes him sound like he was wearing a tin foil hat when he wrote it. the lyrics to this were like, "okay *sigh* this is supposed to be like an eco-peace-hippie-friendly album thingie, so i gotta end it with some doves and rainbows...uh wendy, what rhymes with 'landfill'?"
i don't hate it, but it's a little bland and tired and a bit like something you'd hear eric cartman sing on a special earth day episode of south park. though when i imagine TTD/Sananda singing this song, it kinda kicks my ass. go figure. i DO like the fade-out, though. that's sharp.

Prince's political songs usually have bad lyrics, though. Par for the purple course. [Edited 7/27/07 10:29am]

That's MY Prince right there...I love it when the brotha's in the "zone" and he ain't there on this cut. I ain't feeling the flower-child sing-song melody either. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

i think this sums it up. what bugs me the most is: hey, that's no way to say goodbye... i mean to end an album. can y'all recall a weaker, more anti-climactic album closer? sure, it can't be PR or Sometimes It Snows every time, but... it could at least be Get On The Boat, couldn't it? new to funk, naive in every way

That's exactly what's happened to me with this song. The more I hear it, the more I enjoy it. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I love this song. It is my favorite at this time.. I skip Chelsea Rogers. ...for what is your life? it is even a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away

Outside the Prince community it´s clear: Prince is a bad lyricist.
Inside this is debatable. This song once more proves it.

Inside this is debatable. This song once more proves it. I don't think that anyone outside of the Prince community has an opinion at all on his lyrics. Usually no ones gets past how he looks, why would they give the lyrics a second thought? If anything, they know Kiss for example and surely like those lyrics.

I GOT IT! The opening riff sounds like Mr. Jones (Counting Crows). All in all, a great closer to an amazing album! 'A pillow covered in all our tears'
