i think he's playing with simplicity again. alot of folk music is based on simplicity because it's supposed to reflect on simple everyday people. maybe he's fusing that element. anyway i love this track, i'm glad to see some good semi-protest/peace music popping up. | |

First-rate song.
Brilliant closer to the album. 'Planet Earth' in my view is his best album since 'The Gold Experience' and one of his best albums of all time. 'Planet Earth' stands comparable to Prince's 80's material. | |

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a simple song -- if you mean simple as in "uncomplicated." The lyrics to this song, however, are simple as in simple-minded -- ie, stupid or silly. I find it funny that you'll question the intelligence of anyone who doesn't like this song -- even as Prince insults the intelligence of his audience with these lyrics. I would re-order them because if I left Resolution off, Lion of Judah would be the closer -- and I think that's kinda weak, too. I think the closing track should be one of the album's stronger songs. This song reminds me of that old hippie track which goes
"Joy to the world, all the boys and girls Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea Joy to you and me" Don't know the name of the song, just remember the chorus. That said, Resolution is still an OK track but definitely not one of the album's highlights. | |

The album opens ferociously with the perfect title track, and closes on a mellow message song, with (once again) well arranged and recorded parts. "He's a musician's musician..." | |

Isn't this just a continuation of "Lion Of Judah" with more breaks?
I'm actually glad tho' that he ended the album with a radio-friendly track in terms of time as opposed to some 9-minute self-indulgent "Last December" opus. as for the 4-7 year old comment - it makes for a catchy song! Write a song with a melody that sounds like anursery rhyme and I GUARANTEE U'll remember it! 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

wow..simple lyrics? I'm surprised by that...to me the lyrics are kinda heavy actually, I mean war and the way people are and do we really want a resolution?

In other words, he's pretending to be foolish or ignorant, so as to expose the ignorance of someone else? Okay, now that's interesting. In that case, what he's really saying is that people who mouth platitudes like, "The main problem with war is that nobody ever wins," are fools who aren't dealing with the world as it really exists. They're a bunch of Pollyannas who think that by "visualizing world peace," all the fighting will stop as if by magic. As entertaining as I would find that...I don't think that's really what he means.
