If you have no "Resolution" this IS your mantra. Makes me want to grab an Acoustic, find a tall Oak, and let Mother Earth know she'll be ok.

One of my favs on this CD. This is the Prince I know! Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!

Makes me laugh the twee naivety of "the main problem with...", sounds like a child wrote it. Hard to enjoy as a result, nice to hear some reggae/ska twangs I suppose. Glug, glug like a mug

You said "twee." I love that word. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The song sounds too Saved By The Bell-ish.
Like Zack Morris and Lisa Turtle have their band together and they play this song for the talent show and everyone cheers at the end with a standing ovation... Sorry, that's just my take on this and other "message songs". I felt the same way about the song "Gold" from the Gold Experience.

There are many Prince songs that deal with broad universal concepts and the reason that they still play well is the lack of specifics. Am I the only one who's reading some personal undertones in this song between prince and w & l?
I agree. One of my favourites on the album along with the title track, The One U Wanna C, Somewhere here on Earth & Lion of Judah. I think there are interpretations to be made with reference to Wendy on this one. Bring on an entire Prince/Wendy album next - I think he sounds more inspired on this album than he has in ages. good points. firstly i'd like to say that i am digging this song more and more. along with 'lion of judah', this is some of the best stuff he's done in YEARS. it has that light touch to it, that playfulness, that nobody-else-could-get-away-with-it-but-prince dippiness that he has been missing since, ooh, say 1988 or so. and for that i love it. the music works, it doesn't sound forced - and there's actually a hell of a lot going on in 'resolution' once you care to listen to it closely. it is deceptively simple, but i'm guessing a lot of other musicians would kill to be able to pull off that clarity and economy of arrangement and have it come out sounding so breezy. if there's a weakness with 'resolution', it's certainly the lyrics - but even in his heyday, prince was maddeningly vague and hippy-dippy at times, and this was often highlighted in his 'philosophical-save-the-world' songs. i'm willing to concede that this is a particularly weak example of a prince lyric, even by his own standards - but to my ears, the song is charming enough to get away with it, and the word 'resolution' is an interesting one, which admits many interpretations. in other words, the song actually repays repeated listens, not just at a musical level - but lyrically too. meanwhile, i have also been thinking about the 'personal undertones' between prince and wendy & lisa. so here's the thing. this is one of prince's least bitter-sounding songs for many years. no macho bragadaccio, no aggressive posturing - but a genuinely sweet song with a genuinely sweet message. i don't know if anyone else has posted this, but: REVOLUTION RESOLUTION interesting, hey? as if prince wants to sew up all the turbulence of the past with a one letter re-write... anyone care to back me up on this? average... nice to hear Wendy & Lisa on this album I must say. This is a better set of work then of late I would agree with that. Some very cool tunes and some average tunes, but I wont kick it out of bed or anything...

i get the feeling if he released rasberry beret now people would go 'ewwwww'. now... mr goodnight. ahem, here is a song to slag off! beyond crap. it's gone through crap to laughable then back out the otherside again. I love the melody, the sound of his voice, Wendy & Lisa.. pretty much everything but the lyrics. And this is what kills Resolution for me. Sorry, but imagine Raspberry Beret being about war - I would have hated it, too. And now imagine Resolution with lyrics similar to Raspberry Beret (something light, a love story). Man, that would be my favourite song then, Shame.... carpe noctem - die nacht ist lang

yes yes yes, I love this piece, especially the second verse, pure positivity. Can't you hear the emotion in the vocal? Coming from the UK, the land of self depricating sarcasm and egomania disguised as humility, it's like breathing clean air. I could imagine Yusuf Islam (previously known as Cat Stephens) doing something as uplifting. It takes real courage to smile with music when so many are trying to be hard.

This song speak about war and peace. It makes a nice circle with the first song. What we need is love, no more troubles, said bob marley. We need a lead who is love and justice, said Prince. And it will come! The solution is in the earth song in the chorus. The Lion of Judah takes the lead and brings as'Prince of peace' freedom all over the earth. A really nice song to finish.

Great song, I love it and will play it as often as I can.
My copy of "Planet Earth" - purchases at WalMart - lists the song as "Revelation" in my car's CD player. I know bootleg copies had this. I'm surprised the official release does, too.

i like what the lyrics r saying, however ..i thought he was going 2 bust out in2 the beatles Revolution instead of resolution ...
overall, this album is not my cup of tea ..but 4 those that wanted a pop/rock album ..u got it ... now perhaps on the next one we'll return 2 the funk! after 1st listening of this album..i immediatley put on 3121 2 remind myself that prince still can do funky music ..PE just isn't it man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
