I like the production - the twangyness of the guitars and W&L's cooing vocals... However, the lyrics are nothing more than embarrassing High School poetry and the melody sounds like something Bruno Martelli would have composed for Doris Schwartz to sing, at a benefit concert for a student with brain cancer - or something. Great analogy And lovely to see you, Justin. . While I don't quite agree, I love what you've written. Actually, maybe I do agree and don't find it to be that bad a thing, lol. I always thought Bruno was under rated, I mean Could We Be Magic and Be My Music are classic . Track scores a 8.5 for me, A good end to an enjoyable album. why do people keep referring to this song as "Revelation"?????

i think he's playing with simplicity again. alot of folk music is based on simplicity because it's supposed to reflect on simple everyday people. maybe he's fusing that element. anyway i love this track, i'm glad to see some good semi-protest/peace music popping up.

First-rate song.
Brilliant closer to the album. 'Planet Earth' in my view is his best album since 'The Gold Experience' and one of his best albums of all time. 'Planet Earth' stands comparable to Prince's 80's material.

I was trying to figure out how to re-order the songs on the album so I can just leave this one off.
But then I realized, it probably isn't worth the trouble. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Nothing wrong with a simple song. What songs are you listening to that have such great, deep lyrics? I think you're being too hard on this song, and I question your music taste and intelligence. "Don't you think one of the charms of marriage is that it makes deception a necessity for both parties?"

9/10 I Love the arrangement, the harmonies and the lyrics! a perfect end to his best album in ages.
One minute they want peace……
Then do everything to make it go away.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a simple song -- if you mean simple as in "uncomplicated." The lyrics to this song, however, are simple as in simple-minded -- ie, stupid or silly. I find it funny that you'll question the intelligence of anyone who doesn't like this song -- even as Prince insults the intelligence of his audience with these lyrics. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

But then I realized, it probably isn't worth the trouble. Well, first off, I like the song (but we all have our opinion).. what I found funny is how you are trying to figure out how to re-order the songs to avoid this one? Well, it is the last song on the CD.... not sure where else you would put it to avoid it? Track 5?

Well, it is the last song on the CD.... not sure where else you would put it to avoid it? Track 5? Let me clarify... I would re-order them because if I left Resolution off, Lion of Judah would be the closer -- and I think that's kinda weak, too. I think the closing track should be one of the album's stronger songs. Doing that leaves folks wanting more. See what I'm sayin'? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

This song reminds me of that old hippie track which goes
"Joy to the world, all the boys and girls Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea Joy to you and me" Don't know the name of the song, just remember the chorus. That said, Resolution is still an OK track but definitely not one of the album's highlights.

I like the song where it is, at the end.
The album opens ferociously with the perfect title track, and closes on a mellow message song, with (once again) well arranged and recorded parts. "He's a musician's musician..."

The main problem with war Is that nobody ever wins The next generation grows up Learns how to do it all over again. No matter who started the argument Just matters how each one ends How many people really want resolution? The main problem with people Is they never do what they say One minute they want peace Then do everything to make it go away Dropping bombs on each other In the act of saving face Tell me now people how is that resolution? Either you do or you don't Either you will or you won't Making amends is a difficult pill to swallow What can we lose if we try? With no water a flower dies With no one to lead, resolution will follow. Love is like a circle No beginning and no end A broken heart will mend When you love it like your best friend Handle your heart with care It's as delicate as a wing When the storms come again Pray for resolution All over the world.....tell me how many people really want resolution? I think he sings wind (not wing) lol

A nice album closer, it ties the themes of the album together well. It IS a bit sing-songy, but it is done well. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Isn't this just a continuation of "Lion Of Judah" with more breaks?
I'm actually glad tho' that he ended the album with a radio-friendly track in terms of time as opposed to some 9-minute self-indulgent "Last December" opus. as for the 4-7 year old comment - it makes for a catchy song! Write a song with a melody that sounds like anursery rhyme and I GUARANTEE U'll remember it! 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

wow..simple lyrics? I'm surprised by that...to me the lyrics are kinda heavy actually, I mean war and the way people are and do we really want a resolution?
not really simple kid stuff although the music and the way it's sung does suggest otherwise...perhaps it's irony? "not a fan" yeah...ok

not really simple kid stuff although the music and the way it's sung does suggest otherwise...perhaps it's irony? Hmmmm...so you're suggesting that Resolution is an exercise in Socratic irony? In other words, he's pretending to be foolish or ignorant, so as to expose the ignorance of someone else? Okay, now that's interesting. In that case, what he's really saying is that people who mouth platitudes like, "The main problem with war is that nobody ever wins," are fools who aren't dealing with the world as it really exists. They're a bunch of Pollyannas who think that by "visualizing world peace," all the fighting will stop as if by magic. As entertaining as I would find that...I don't think that's really what he means. But it might be just enough to get me to chuckle my way through the song, instead of gritting my teeth. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
