I like this. It reminds me of a LL CoolJ song on his "Mama Said Knock You Out" cd. Title "Mr Goodbar". Prince song is a smooth mellow version of his. I dig it that Prince rapping is sounding better to me.

This one reminds me of a cocky bastard. I don't picture Prince as being that way, he is too busy making music.. but Ronny the Limo driver on Howard Stern or the personality I created for my Teddy Bear that I bough in the projects may come off this way.

Ok, a little spoken word?....sounds like this track would have fit perfectly on the Emancipation CD.

I'm listening to "Mr. Goodnight", and the rest of the songs on Planet Earth. Nice groove, good spoken word, the hook is catchy, but the lyrics as superficial and narcissitic as they sound, sounds like a less sleazier counterpart to "18 And Over". I mean "18 And Over" and the accompanying video is cheesy compared to this track, am i right?

I'm not crazy about the lyrics, but this is a sexy song. And I love to hear Prince talkin' sexy.

This should be on an outtake album, not an official release. Filler, and bad filler at that.

Agree completely. The first serious misstep on the album and it breaks a string of five songs with great production. I don't hear anything redeeming here at all - this is music by numbers, no melody, no hook, no lyrical originality, no nothing. Very disappointing that he'd put something this underwhelming on especially when the album starts out so solid.
