If you think this is generic think again, he is doing what he did with Kiss, a fresh take on a classic blues progression and that my friends is a fine art. Anyone who digs the blues will smile when they hear this, the rest o' y'all...just don't know! [Edited 7/22/07 14:08pm] "so glam, it's absurd"

This song has a White Stripes like drum beat. That's awesome!
I love ya baby...but not like I love my guitar!

I seriously like the first one I heard. (the one that had to be downloaded for 99 cents...) The album version is ok....but...I dunno, it seems like it's either watered down or it's in a semi-higher key. My head bobs only slighty compared to the original--that made me get out of my seat and jump around. I really wish he'd put the other version on or at least have both.

AWJ said: I have to agree that this is not unlike PEACH!
However in my opinion PEACH is a much better song, this sounds like just another throwaway number, the sort of thing you would expect to see free on the front of a Sunday Paper... oh wait a minute it was free on the front of the paper damn and to think I was going to spend good money on this as well! At least the paper entertained me for half an hour! My name is PRINCE and I WAS funky my name is PRINCE and I'm free on Sunday! AWJ I have 2 agree.....But in my own complete opinion it is the best song on the album so far!!!!! i have jus purchased the cd about half n hour ago n i've only made it 2 future baby mama rite now (still listenin) It's like a song u can jus hav fun with not something that is a good single 2 promote on....im sure it sounds way better live n it could've used more guitar...at the end of the song it sounds like a longer riff going on so mayb it mite b an extended version we can look forward 2 [Edited 7/24/07 13:17pm] hav u had ur + sign 2 day.

"Guitar" kicks ass! NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

First thought is U2's I Will Follow. The guitar part is similar. [Edited 7/24/07 22:24pm]

It's great to have 2 versions, but I DEFINITELY like the original better. I wish it was on the CD too.

Great version. It is much better than the download that was released in the Spring.
The ending is great and makes me yearn for a longer version to hear the rest of the song. The added guitar work is top-notch.

Sadly, this is the best song on the album.

It's OK. It's not one of Prince's best or worst rock songs but it's OK.
"Guitar" is definately better than the other rock tracks on the album (or whatever they are called) with the damn old-timey accoustical guitars that I hate that remind me of country. At least "Guitar" has hard electric guitar. . . [Edited 7/25/07 7:13am] Andy is a four letter word.

i like the tongue n cheek lyrics..and it does get me a little up on my feet 2 mimic some air guitar man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I like it! The lyrics are "iffy", but the guitars makes the song come alive. Check me out and add me on:

It's cute & bouncy, but I wonder how long I'll be interested in listening to it. It's pretty short on any real substance, and pretty repetitive.
Fairly honest, though, as i bet most women would be disappointed to find how much Prince would ignore them in favor of music. My Legacy

Much better than the demo. Weak and derivative riff. Pretty solid track.

I love this song, adore it! I'm probly the opposite of one of those cynical Prince fans who looks at production, mixes, etc. If Prince farted on an album, I'd probly dig that too, lol. But let me take a less juvenile approach:
It's a fun song, the kind of song you want to blast with your windows down on a nice day, kinda like Take Me With You. Nothing complex, just music for the sheer fun enjoyability of it! And if you wanna get complex, there's that gorgeous guitar solo at the end, plus the lyrics! He's clearly taking a shot at SOMEBODY, and that part's intriguing, especially the "you couldn't do it alone" part, what's that about?

I think this song is message to Mani... although divorced she is still in a fight for his assets (some inside info)... She is a grown woman she should go out and make her own money and leave Prince alone.....he doesn't owe her anything!

For anyone who's (tried to) loved a musician, this song rings true! One of the easiest lyrics P's probably ever written! I will keep supporting & buy everything he puts out, but there's just something about those 80's joints - CLASSIC. To hear "Adore" on the radio is pure heaven.

It's not bad. The U2 riff is pretty obvious to me, although I'm a long-time U2 fan so I wasn't sure if I was listening too hard. But I guess others hear it, too. It reminds me of an Interactive/Cybersingle kinda thing. Maybe that's not a compliment, idk. I love Interactive, though. Guitar made it onto my Ipod, so I have it in the top half of tracks from Planet Earth.

More guitar than the original release in Feb. I read somewhere then that there wasn't enough guitar on this track. He's out there listening. It's time to fix your clock.

I think I would have loved this song more if the main riff were different. The U2, "I Will Follow" hook seems totally wrong for the humorous sentiment of this song...like the key is just all wrong....the lyrics are funny, and yet the riff is sort of serious and urgent.
And of course, he cuts off the solo at the end. P, if you love your guitar so much, let's hear you tear it up for a longer stretch!

This song makes even my semi-goth stepdaughter happy. Can't get it out of my head either. Prince shows that he can master any music genre with this song.

Like many fans I really hate chaos & disorder.
This track reminds me of the c&d production and the guitar chorus is a little bit annoying. Nevertheless, for me not a bad song at second sight.
