Pre-Purple Rain era

What is your fave album by Prince before Purple Rain and your fave song? My album would be 1999 for it is #4 on my all time album list by Prince and in my top 50 of music's albums of all time. The collection as a whole was anything we heard before at that time and it definitely proved Prince as a mega-superstar. My favorite song though is rougher to name. They're probably 3 songs I loved at the time that I still listen to today. They are: Let's Work, I Wanna Be Your Lover, and Horny Toad. Man that was tough. I stick with those 3. How about you?

Ahhhhh, I miss this era. That was when he didn't gives a fuck and his music was dangerous. I wish I had a time machine. Now I can expect albums to have... a ballad, a funk number, a gospel number, a lynn-drum machine throwback, etc...

But as he says in Love: Stop giving me your wishlists. Love is greater than all this.

To answer your question though:

Dirty Mind
Sister
I wish u heaven

I just got For You on CD! Had it on vinyl. I think it's his 2nd most complete album after Purple Rain. I think his sound took a bit of a backward step on Dirty Mind, Controversy and 1999. Not as rich as For You and Prince.
