The general gist is: The good die young.
The title is a metaphor, April is Spring, the young beautiful, innocent male of the annual cycle. If the weather turns bad again during early Spring, it can kill of the emerging young natural life (plants and young animals). Geddit?

I started a similar thread some time ago....
and for me this song means love lost - wether it's friendship, lover etc. And "civil war" I think is more about an internal conflict with oneself....a metaphor.... it's an amazing song with so much emotions and such powerful lyrics. I love when he sings it live. "When I want to hear good music, I write it myself"

Well, basically, its when snow falls down, but its april, and not.. january or december.. april is an unusual time of year for snow to fall (maybe not in antarctica), but its generally not a normal time in most northern hemisphere nations. it most likely that april is the start of spring, so the weather clears up and gets a little warmer... but for some strange reason, every now and then it gets sooo cold in april, that it might just..... snow! now if that did happen to you, and you were having a cup of coffee or reading a book and you noticed snow, looked at the calender and it said "april", then you would think.. "hey" its kinda strange that its snowing, and we are in april! but then you laugh and think to yourself... "well. sometimes it snows in april.." you might not be feeling too well as there is too much milk in your coffee and you are lactose intolerant.. so you start thinking "sometime I feel so bad".. "sometimes it feels, like life is neverending". but then you look outside at the snow, smile and think to yourself."but all good things they say. never last"... [Edited 7/12/07 6:49am]
