Prince missed a golden opportunity...

...by not participating in Live Earth.

The song "Planet Earth" would have been the perfect centerpiece for the whole event, and would have been a huge bit of publicity for the album, but oh well...

I'm not surprised he didn't contribute in the slightest

We are the world Part 2. When I first heard Prince's next album was called "Planet Earth" and the were having the live Earth concert (and they were both in July) I thought it was a tie in as well. Oh well.

i wondered the same thing at first - if he would participate...that is, if he hadn't already had the 7.7.07 shows planned...

but then i realized Tipper Gore was behind the scenes with Al and that probably would have been an extremely ironic, awkward, and interesting situation!! lololol...

I agree. It would have been another "moment". Still, if he did it for reasons that were suggested in that other thread, then I respect it. There will be other moments.

Yes, he missed a golden opportunity to be watched by 2 billion (!) people and pets. If he can do the Superbowl, why not Live Earth? Perhaps he's too scared to get pelted with tomatoes (like when he did the support act for the Rolling Stones).

I appreciate that he did not participate in live earth, as he did not participate in "we are the world" in 1985.
Prince is out of the drove, he's leading his own way.

I just don't think thing's like this are Prince's "thing". He likes to keep a low profile sometimes

Yeah... I watched some clips of the concerts on TV, and it wasn't that interesting... Nobody can really perform.

Prince just loves Minneapolis better than the rest of the world--that's all. 3 shows in 1 day. Who loves you Princey?

Live Earth was such a flop, and there were many artists who refused to partcipate, because of the hypocrisy of it all.
