Dutch listening session for "Planet Earth": post your reports here I have received an e-mail today that at 17.00 CET there has started a listening session for people from the Netherlands.
I am not attending myself, but in a few hours i hope to post a report / review from a journalist who is at the session. Any other 'dutchies' in here are attending the session or do know any people who are attending, i kindly ask to post their information here. By the way: not officially confirmed, but on some dutch forumsites there are rumours going around that Prince will give one or more concerts in the Netherlands in October. I will keep you informed on that. Thanks in advance

Sorry, double post on this.
Lets state this are still rumours, emile, by the way. Dont slaughter me afterwards when it is not gonna happen. As far i understand Candy (Dulfer) couldnt keep her mouth shut about the tour schedule. An interesting note by the way: it was reported earlier by Candy in an interview that she will get straight into the London concerts without rehearsing with the band first. At the moment she is busy touring with her own band and she couldnt find the time to join the rehearsals. In the interview she stated that she was proud that Prince seemingly trusts her that much, that she can play at the London concerts without rehearsing 150 songs with the band on forehand.

I hope it's true although then i wouldn't've had to spend money on a London ticket [Edited 7/5/07 11:07am]

1. Planet Earth A plate must have according to Prince always a titelsong, wanted to know as he ever at Jesse Johnson. The gitarist of The Tim brought out in 1987 its album Shockadelica, without a number with that name. Poking fun wrote Prince the number Shockadelica and set it, Johnson to pester, Was Your Girlfriend on the b-side of If I. Only back to Planet Earth. The number opens small, with a beautiful piano party and Prince that there at the same time serious tone talking over sings. After a turn with meerstemmige choruses burst the loosely with fat guitars and through the handclaps transforms the song in euforische gospelrock. 2. Guitar De first single, meanwhile already much turned on the radio. Well sturdy tune with the catchy text I praise of you baby, but not dab of I praise my guitar. 3. Somewhere Here On Earth with a creaky plate the jazzy nightclub atmosphere of this ballad Opens at to dikken. With a trumpet line to drawer Miles, you sit really in smoky jazz bar. Does think of Extraordinary and Avalanche. For the attentive fan: this song nothing has to make the Here On Earth of On Nite Alone. 4. The On YOU Wanna C Affirmed as the second single of Planet Earth. Clear audible are the sparkling arrangementen of Wendy and Lisa, that for the first time since 21 year again join on a plate of Prince. This song is so cheerful, bluesy and feelgood, that you to sing by the second refrain all stretch with. Does think of I Could Never Task The Place or Your Man. 5. Future Baby Mom This song was turned already on a radio station in the U.S. and spreads out as an oil spot over internet. The sound of the Linn-drumcomputer, as uses in Let’s Go Crazy and 1999, makes the unmistakable Prince. Resembles the ballads Silly Game (of Rave UN2 The Joy Fantastic) and I Hatred YOU (of The Counted Experience), but then many funkier. Excellently for on the tijgervelletje by the open hearth. 6. Mr. Goodnight Again with the Linn-drumcomputer. It is long ago that we Prince have hear raps. Not only as for feel, it resembles comes Pope, also the text nicely in the neighborhood: All over the world they call me Prince, but you can call me Mr. Goodnight. Do not convinces on the first hearing. 7. All The Midnights In The World A very short cheerful popnummer. Prince want to come the hippie in self to above. Not for by the open hearth, but for by the campfire. 8. Chelsea Rodgers What? Disco? Yes! What a lovely fat beat with a zompige baslijn. Prince must thought have: can what already that British ties, that can I ten turn so funkier. The number is a large celebration with Shelby, that by far it mostly sings, and Maceo Park and partner-in-crime Greg Boyer that losgaan on their horns. Prince, put in this number only meanwhile on the setlist for the shows Rewarded. 9. Lion or Judah Just does the openings agreement think Purple Rain, but already quickly reveals this song self as a little brother of Cinnamon Girl. Wendy and Lisa are again clear audible. What their votes mix really well with that of Prince. 10. Resolution Naturally steers are listeners Prince to house with an errand: How many people really for resolution? André Rouvoet can sort out a new song on its guitar, for this is reli-doll of the top board. Planet Earth lies 24 July in the store. In England, the fans can on 15 July already correct. The cd sit E-mail then namely free of charge by the on Sunday. The paper has let know that international specimens no cd contain, thus save you the trip to the AKO on Schiphol. In God we trust.

This review is hilarious.
Funniest thing I have read in ages. This translation is a hoot, sounds like Yoda translated it. "A plate must have according to Prince always a titelsong" "It is long ago that we Prince have hear raps" "Lion or Judah Just does the openings agreement think Purple Rain:" So funny, "What a lovely fat beat with a zompige baslijn"

My try at a translation (thanks to another dutch person who posted this on Housequake.com)
1. Planet Earh "A CD must have a title of a track that is also on the album", Prince once said to Jesse Johnson. The guitarist of The Time released in 1987 his album 'Shockadelica' without a song with that name. To annoy Jesse, Prince wrote a song called 'Shockadelica' and put it on the B-side of If I Was Your Girlfriend. Let's go back to Planet Earh. The song opens very sparse with a beautiful pianopart and Prince who speaks/sings very seriously. After a twist of harmonic background voices it explodes with aggressive guitars, and the handclaps transforms the song into a gospel-rocksong 2. Guitar The first single that we all know from the radio. Nice, fat song with the catchy lyric "I love U baby but not like I love my guitar". 3. Somewhere Here On Earth Opens with a squeeky vinyl sound (the sound of an old record) to get the idea that you are in a jazzy nightclub. With a trumpet like Miles Davis you really get the feeling you are in a smoky club. The song reminds me of Extraordinary and Avalanche. For the real fan: this song has nothing to do with Here On Earth from One Nite Alone. 4. The One U Wanna C Confirmed as second single. You can hear the sparkling arrangements of Wendy & Lisa, who join Prince again after 21 years. This song is so happy, so bluesy and feelgood that you sing along in the second chorus. It reminds me of ICNTTPOYM. 5. Future Baby Mama This song has allready been played on American radiostations and spreads out very fast over the internet. With the sound of the Linn drum machine, as in Let's Go Crazy and 1999, it is absolutely Prince!! It sounds a bit like Silly Game and I Hate U, but a lot funkier. Excellent song for in front of a open fire-place on a carpet. 6. Mr. Goodnight Once again the Linn drum machine. It's been a long time ago since we heard Prince rap. The song reminds me of The Pope, not only the feel but also the lyrics. The song doesn't convince on first hearing. 7. All The Midnights In The World A really short, happy popsong. Prince becomes a hippie. Not a song for a open fire-place but one in front of a camp-fire. 8. Chelsea Rodger What?! Disco?! Yep!! What a lovely fat beat with a dirty bassline. Prince must have thought: if all those little Brittish bands can do that, I will do it also, but then ten times funkier!!!! The song is a big party with Shelby who sings the most part of the song. Maceo Parker and partner-in-crime Greg Boyer who explode on their horns. Prince!!!! Put this song on the setlist for London. 9. Lion Of Judah At first you think, hey it's Purple Rain! But soon you realise it sounds like a brother of Cinnamon Girl. Wendy & Lisa are very clear to hear on this song. Their voices mix very beautiful with the voice of Prince 10. Resolution Of course Prince send everybody home with a message: How many people really want resolution? All the guitarplayers (including André Rouvoet, dutch christian politician, who is also a guitarplayer) grab your guitar and play along. Its a reli-popsong, but a good one! My thoughts about this review: it confirms the earlier reviews in a way that The title track, Somewhere on Earth and Chelsea Rodgers seem to be the three 'great' tracks on the album, and that Mr. Goodnight is probably the weak one (at first listen, of course). New about this, is that The One U Wanna C, seems to be the second single from the album, and it also tells a bit more about the involvement of Wendy and Lisa.
