who decides what goes on these discs- is it the record companies or P himself

it did make it as a b-side to one of the singles from the Hits though


in fact, there are 12 more tracks that you can add to "The Hits" that came from its singles, if you're so inclined. though a few of them, i don't know why you'd want to (NPG pt 2, for instance).

I don't think it was that big a hit. Plus, when artists have a lot of hits, their greatest hits and best-of collections always leave off some songs. I think it's record company logic that if you include every single hit, you'll jeopardize sales of the rest of the artist's catalog.

Prince has such an extensive cataloge of music that it's probably very difficult to create a "greatest hits" type collection where everyone would be happy. It's all subjective and everyone has there own versions of what would be considered his best stuff. I personally would like to see him put out a detailed Box Set cataloge. I know he put out the 3 CD Hits collection about 10 or so years ago, but I want a collection of his rareities from the beginning of his career until present. Well, I can dream!

im not 'unhappy' it didnt make it- was just curious- knew it wasnt on ultimate and very best of- but was extremely suprised it didnt make hits/bside.

my favs change on a regular basis- mountains usually doesnt make top 10- just been watching UtCM a lot lately, its in my head a lot

i wish i could decide whether or not to make mine a really tight 4 disc set covering 1978-2007 with all edits (including my own) or make it like 8 or 12 discs and include all the extended hits and notable album tracks

mountains SHOULD be regarded as a classic along with girls and boys, housequake, sometimes it snows,etc....songs that are somewhat lesser known, but brilliant..

personally, i think the song suffered because it is hard to understand the lyrics when prince sings in falsetto.....

the actual lyrics to the song are beautiful...

i think he should add it to the acoustic section of his show, especially if Wendy and Lisa join him...
