It's awful. A pile of self-indulgent twaddle. I love the album, but I've seen the film twice in my life and that's at least one time too many.

"PURPLE RAIN" was the only Prince movie worth while...I have watched this flick several times over many years and love it more each time I see it.... wink

I find a lot of the scenes totally cringe-worthy (especially the bit where Aura wakes up in the Kid's bed and he indulges her in a game of hangman confused ), but if you enjoyed watching Morris and Jerome's double act in Purple Rain (which I did), then I think Graffiti Bridge is worth a wee swatch, cuz they get a lot more dialogue and screen time biggrin
The best thing you can do is try not to compare it to PR (because its not even close) and just enjoy it as a bit of nonsense!
Sounds like a real man to me...mind if I turn on the radio?

Just get the album (CD) it you don't already have it. All the songs on the CD are featured in the movie...but this way you won't have to suffer through all the worthless dialog. He almost tried to make it a Purple Rain part 2...but this movie fell WAY short!!! mad

Watch UtCM instead. That film's at least watchable.

Prince didn't end that movie with "Still Would Stand All Time" for no reason...

...everyone kept looking at their watches in the theatre, just begging for it to be over.

As optimistic as I was before watching this flick for the 1st time last year, and as much as I like to brush off Prince's more indulgent endeavors... this movie is unwatchable.

PR and UTCM are at least fun times and don't try to be profound. Just keep watching those and avoid GB as best you can!
I've seen the future, and boy it's rough...

Welllll, Prince does look HOTT in GB so watch it on mute, then turn on the sound during the musical numbers (well maybe not all of them-just for Prince and the Time's numbers). But for goodness sake, do not listen to the dialog!!!

For the hardcore fan, I would say see it...only for the fact you get to see Prince. For me his speaking voice is enough to make me melt. It is the cheesiest movie ever made besides Ishtar. I was embarrassed when my nieces who are not fans, but were interested enough to go take a peek..saw it. I wanted to hide in a box like this. boxed

its really really bad. it took me about five attempts to get through it, and it's not even that long. it has some great ideas (its far more original than his previous two films) and i get totally what he was trying to do but he's not a scriptwriter, director or an actor. even the musical sequences suck; the joy in repetition part is an enormous letdown. having ingrid chavez say "love me" all the way through the lyrics completely ruins the climax of your song, prince, you goddamn idiot. that said, the elephants & flowers performance is extremely cool.
