The song is OK.

Not really gripping me, and not growing on me either...

I think it needed an interesting break or change somewhere in the song.

Not comparing, but if it had the type of breakdown that "I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man" has, it would work well.

The arrangement is a little thin... needs those big classic Prince synth parts somewhere.

I just heard it. It's gonna have to grow on me.Though I am so excited that radio stations are actually playing his new stuff. It's almost like the 80's again.Speaking of the 80's I saw today in a Chicago paper a small article about people from the 80's who seem to be making a buzz.Prince was one of them.

disapointed in the song

Future Baby Moma is a better song and speaks to me more personally. This one is a little too cute for me. Kinda like So Far Too Pleased. Also not enough bottom in it. I will say this again there is a place for this song on POP radio. Its very Gwen Stefani which in itself explains why I don't like it. Its just not my kinda song.

I actually think P is too damn old to make songs that sound like this....too light and too cute.

I do like it better than Guitar (either version) but what does tell you what I think about Guitar based on what I just said.

One day P is going to make an RB complete album in the vein of Maxwell Urban Hang Suite, I guess I'm going to have to wait

If by great you mean a trite generic phoned in by the numbers guitar oriented track with pandering lame lyrics, then I guess it's a great song. If you removed the vocals and said, "Heres the new one by Justin Timberlake or Andre 3000" Many Prince suck up's would be talking about how it wasn't that special and Prince could write something better. The Truth is this song is fodder. It's just fodder. And by that I mean I could go in any songwriter or boxers (Cubicle producers) in AOR Rock Dept and ask them to show me 100 just like this. And they would roll out Production CD demo after Production CD demo. It's so evident that P is just one of the factory pack now. The very thing that he fought so long to not be..


And you know another thing? Shania Twain probably has something like this on her upcoming new album called "The Man I want to Love" complete with even the pandering lyrics to boot and adlibs like "You know he's the man I want to love,baby"

Prince has become so plastic/hollow it's not even funny. I feel bad for a person desperate for attention and praise at every turn. Maybe as a bonus Japanese track he can add his cover of "Love Roller Coaster" I see no difference than people whining about what Usher or R Kelly or Timberlake does for attention than what Prince is doing.
What a lonely isolated stark place the stage must be. What a awful cruel lie to so many contemplating this road.

There are thousands upon thousands of songwriters who write nearly identical stuff for tv cues or soundtracks to D Listed movies. I think I heard this song on a commercial for buying a Ford Pickup. Any veteran songwriter in the biz can probably show you a up tempo rocker like that he did many years ago just sitting collecting dust. That's not to say that Prince isn't extremely talented. But it's not really deserving of any praise or applause just because P did it. It's generic anyway you cut it. You'd like to see anyone "else" try it. Truthfully this song has been done a million times before. It's called a "AOR Rock" format. So your dare has already been challenged before Prince even had the guitar hook for this.

If you were told this tune was an outtake from SOTT, you would be like "wow, I wish Prince could still write som fun tunes like this one ! ".

It is so late revolutionish sounding.

No one else (and certainly not Shania Twain who is far from being the worst singer and entertainer out there btw) would place the bass like Prince on this tune. No one else would play this fun so typical Prince solo right in the middle. No one else would sing this fun falsetto line around the end.
I feel a strong w & l influence on this tune btw.

In fact, apart from Guitar, so far T1UWC and FBM sound like some outtakes from the 80's.
