Just heard it. Not bad, not bad at all. Sounds like something from one of my Prince bootleg tapes, one of those sweet ballads from the late 70's/early 80's that was never released. Or a ballad that would work on the "Prince" album. Not my kind of song, but romantic and well done nonetheless. Sounds old school to me, but with great vocals like Soul Sanctuary or Love They Will B Done. it reminds me of "what do u want me 2 do" but that's probably just
the linn drum. although the tempo is slower and the drum programming is much more reminiscent of the purple rain era whereas "what do u want me 2 do" was more contemporary despite the use of the linn drum. i like it, i like it a lot. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Sorry to post again so quick but that was my first complete hearing -- and this is, to me, CLASSIC PRINCE!!!
I loved everything about it: his voice, the linn drum programming, the arrangement...just stellar.

On the version I heard a female caller called in and said "I like that fruture baby mama" (yes, fruture, it was very sweet) with a southern voice that was really really cute sounding.
Great great song and sound/feel/vibe to this. [Edited 6/26/07 19:03pm]

It's actually P talking about how some women are not future baby mama material. He also speaks of the value of the woman he's singing to. You know P: "Where you wanna go? London, Africa", etc.? It sounds along the lines of Call My Name but I like it much better than that. Oh no. Well, I'm kinda drunk right now, just heard it, but I don't really remember it being like Call My Name at all.

Damn it! The live stream keeps cutting out every few seconds and "re" buffering. I can't hear more than 5 seconds of music at a time and so far nothing that I can tell is Prince. Has anyone heard it on a NYC radio station (so I can turn on my radio)?
Although, reading all the songs it's being compared to, I doubt I'll like it. I'm one of those Prince fans who doesn't really like when Prince does ballads/slow songs.

I dug it and I don't dig anything. BTW, we heard Somewhere Here On Earth this Sunday at the Prince party. I.love.that.song. I had a feeling I wouldn't like it from the title. Now the "Call My Name" comparison nearly seals the deal. It doesn't remind me of Call My Name. It's soulful with plenty of Prince's sexy crooning throughout. ME LIKES IT A LOT!!! LOL

That hook reminds me of something...a showtune maybe??? Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

it's not like Call my name. It's better I'd relate it to Somebody's somebody or Man o war It's funny that you said Man O War because strangely enough I've been singing that song all day and just sat here thinking how FBM reminds me a little of Man O War.

The ambivalence towards Prince's slow jams? (Don't even get me started on Adore... ) It was the funky stuff that got me into Prince. Come to think of it, I don't really like slow jams by anyone (that I can think of offhand anyway--ooh except Sam Cooke.). Slow jams are just.....too slow.
