Why Being a Prince Fan is so Frustrating Today! I just have to share my current frustration with my broke ass fan status. I've been a die hard fan for 15 years. I own most albums, I listen to his music daily, I even have a tattoo of his previous name on my person. But I'm sitting here, reading about all these shows, reading about Penelope Cruz singing along to Purple Rain (when did she learn English?) and I'm so annoyed out of my mind. I can't afford to see him, he's all over the press these days and I feel like I'm just accessing the experience 4th hand. It's clear that he's quite geniusly brought himself back onto center stage, but I sincerely hope that sometime in the near future those of us that have stuck with him over the years, through the crap albums, the low times, the not so popular times, get some sembelnce of an acknowlegement. Some reasonably priced show, celebrity-free show.

Vicki...I feel ya, but unfortunatly it's the times we live in. The record industry SUCKS right now so artists are finding innovative ways to make a dollar. Prince was a pioneer of using the internet (NPGMC) to promote and sell his music. That being said, it still doesn't compare to having a major label behind you to promote your product. Touring is how some of these artists actually make their real money. Did you not catch the Musicology Tour? Those tickets were MUCH more reasonably priced. I saw it 3 times in 3 different cities. There no way I can afford the Roosavelt Hotel gigs he's doing in L.A. and I'm only a few hours away. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he will tour to promote Planet Earth! Take Care!

Yes! I'm hoping that he'll tour with the same sort of shows and ticket pricing that he's offering in London. He gets it! That's why the ladies love him...

Maybe it's this undercurrent of panic that I'm feeling...like we're getting close to the end. I'm so used to Prince being young and able, I mean he's not elderly but at some point he'll stop touring. Something about the cumulative press surrounding Prince these days makes me feel strange. Maybe it's that they keep calling his shows the possible last ones. Like this is some encore of his career and then he'll melt away into oblivian or maybe it's just that we're sharing him with the general public again and will get him back to ourselves after he's made his several million and is not so front and center. Prince in US Weekly news stories just ain't right to me.

i think that's just some marketing stunt, he's too impulsive to stop. saying it's 'the last time' to see something is gonna' bring everyone out for the same reason you're frustrated. i wouldn't really worry about it because he's a real music man

C'mon... this is a business and u aint 2 far gone 2 c that yet...
Prince p4ms 2 a ,4 himself primarily and more than likely feels he owes u nothing. Yeah I suppose that might b frustrating.

When he plays arenas he keeps the prices affordable. The LA gig is just a money maker for him that the rich celebrities can afford. He played the gigs for free last year at his rented house so might as well make money off them now Its a small venue and would be really cool to see him up close but a little too steep for the regular fan. I think if he does a world tour with the same prices as Musicology he could set records for sold-out shows and money made so hopefully it is in the works

Did you get to see the Musicology tour? It was the most reasonably-priced tour in the world. Everything goes in cycles. There will probably come a time when there will be affordably-priced shows again.

The last time I saw Michael Jackson was back in the day in the mid 80's on his Victory Tour, when he was still a Black Man!!! I have not seen him perform live since his transformation to a White Woman. This is TRUE frustration here!!!

Listen, I feel you both!!! I'm twenty minutes from the Roosevelt Hotel and still can't pay for a ticket! Now, I too got to see the Musicology tour several times myself but to be a breathe away from Prince would indeed be priceless! "A united state of mind will never be divided

Ya, the MJ fans are worse off than Prince fans... I am most frustrated about all the bitching here on the org about how his new music sucks...blah...blah...fucking blah...how his religion and/or age is affecting his music today in a negative way I love his music today and yesterday! But I do understand where you're coming from Vicki

I'm not an old-school fan by any means. I've only been riding the purple truck for 8 years. But that's 8 years of support, 8 years of trying to catch up on all the classic albums I was too young for before. And let's face it -I became a fan at a weird and awkward period for Prince; a time when a lot of older fans hadn't yet come back into the fold and he was still largely known as a joke with a squiggle for a name. So what do I get for a show? Second and third-hand reports of parties and concerts too good for the loyal fans, but just right to issue invites to Paris Hilton. That said, even though there's no chance in hell of me making it out to London or LA this summer, I can't get over how well the whole project's panning out, especially with the ultra-cheap ticket prices. I live in Santa Barbara, and the day he was ordered to appear at the county jail will go down in historty for me. I am so not a fan, but it was truely a funny moment when I was watching all the helicopters overhead, at the same time they were live on msnbc. The whole ride from the airport to the jail, then back to the airport was hysterical, the driver kept missing the exit, and had them going the wrong way...I was watching the tv screen shouting "wrong way loser!" sheesh!
