U mean to tell me that "Lisa" is neither as good as or even better than "Prince"?

it might be worth differentiating a keyboardist and a pianist.
i've never seen lisa on Piano. Lisa's sound was more of a "synth" sound

Oh, well, seeing the fact that "Lisa's Father" like "Prince's", was a "Jazz Pianist", I just figured that she may have adapted to the piano in the same light as "Prince", that's all.

No only that on this song you can tell its Prince playing piano - there is so much emotion in this song that only Prince could pull this off and its beautiful

Prince did everything in that song, as far as I know.

He puts so much feeling into that song and every key he plays really fits into the whole scheme of things.

When I first heard the song, the overly long instrumental solo bored me because I had no idea if the song had vocals or not...

but I heard the song a couple of times yesterday (actually, 3... I listened to the album twice yesterday)... and I longed for the piano solo because it really carries me into the mood he was in during the song. Bringing my mind & heart into his world... the critics say how the album is too heavy on 1960's psychodelia... this song helps the listener get into Prince's element... showing why he is so special.

Lisa is great at what she does, but if this song is as personal to Prince as I believe it is, he'd have to play the keyboards or it wouldn't come off quite the same way.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Playing an instrument 'better' or 'worse' doesn't really apply. Each person has it's own style so you can't just say one playes the piano better than the other.

Lisa has her own style, I'd say more 'classic based' and Prince more ' organic-based' (can't find another word for it but it comes down the point he learned himself to play).

As for Condition of the heart, I think it is Prince, judging from this 'organic-style' of playing.

....I can confirm....This is 100% Prince...i emailed few years ago Lisa about this question for "Condition of the Heart"....she replied as far i remembered > Prince composed and played all the instruments alone on this one!

Lisa is an accomplished pianist as well as a "keyboardist". She is extremely talented.

However, Condition of the Heart was performed soley by Prince.

I think when you listen to it, its quite obvious that that is Prince on piano.

It has that same 'melodramatic' (a bit campy even) style of the piano medleys he often plays during his live concerts.

But yes, Lisa also plays piano, she is the one hitting the keys on Sometimes it snows in april. She also shows some impressive skills on the piano on "Secret God" from singer-songwriter Neil Finn. Check that track out biggrin

By the way: a personal opinion, i think Prince has improved immensely as a piano player over the years.

His piano playing in the eighties was often too Vegas-like, too Liberace for me. Virtuose of course, but often it sounded to me he was showing off for the showing off.

On the otherhand, when i listen to One Nite Alone, the piano album, his style is more sober, less flashy, but it touches me more on an emotional level.

Anyone agrees?
