Tom

Do you still get corrected when you say "Prince"?...

I realize most people dont follow the life and times of Prince these days, but it DRIVES ME UP A WALL when I mention the name Prince and people stop and correct me, saying "You mean the Artist Formerly Known as, right?..."

Then I have to say "No, you (expletive) he changed it back to Prince like 2 years ago, get with it!"

When he was The Artist, people wanted to call him Prince.
Now that he's Prince, they want to call him The Artist.
You just can't win.rolleyes

No, not really!!
All eye get are weird looks!! Or people asking me if he is still alive!! Or even some actually ask me what does he call himself these days!!!
Eye get even more weird looks, when eye go about town dressed in Prince t-shirts and an NPG Baseball cap!!!
One little old lady once, where we used 2 live, once asked me what team the NPG was and where they are based!!! LOL
When eye told her it was the New Power Generation and Prince, she said that she hadnt heard of that!!!LOL

yes quite a lot actually, they start stammering and spurting out words like hey isn't he the TAFKAP or the artist ...it usually takes a little explaining why and when he changed his name back but afterwards they're like , yeah cool, he has some cool songs smile

I've always called him prince. i thought the name change was ridiculous and so did my friends, so we have never had a problem on what to call him
I woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert

Most ppl ask me what he has done all the years, when I mention him.
" 't was long ago, when he did his last record" was all I heard of 'em.
Then I have 2 give a very detailed explanation what he did in the last years and why his output in these last years is very much more than in his 'billboard & radio-days' in the 80ies. Very exhausting.

Do U also have situations like these?

I think people just like to be annoying & point out the whole name change thing b/c it's odd. I have a friend who knows damn well what his name is, yet every SINGLE time I'm playing his music, "Who is that? THE ARTIST??? What's his name? What's he calling himself these days? Is he still a symbol?" All followed by laughter neutral - like she's taunting me for liking him, it's so stupid.
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

I love the fact that he was called the Artist, because he truly is an Artist. The Artist mean he is the standard, and if anyone want to be considered an artist they must compare themselves to Prince (The Artist)
How you gonna get my back when you fronting.

Also when I mention Prince people normally say, he used to be good, what ever happened to him? And I will explain the name change, and the Evil deeds of WB. And they say wow, I didn't know that, He is a very good musician, and performer.
Then I tell them that He sells his music via the internet so that WB and others cannot Rip him off. And they say, good for him, its about time someone stood up to the powers that be.
How you gonna get my back when you fronting.

yeah, once explained to people they usually think it is pretty brilliant that he used the name change to get out of a contract...when you throw in the fact that he doesn't own the majority of his work people really get supportive.

YES I DO

IT IS VERY ANNOYING

I hate being corrected by laypeople on Prince details. I'm like "I know many many times more about this subject than you ever will".

I then fling my scarf over my shoulder and stride purposefully out of the pub.
