I remember when 3121 came out, this song didn't get much love. I was really surprised 'cause I think it is a solid song. The groove is great, the drums are excellently played, it's got a nice horn line, and I especially love the fact that it's obviously a JB-inspired song, but Prince has this acoustic guitar undreneath it which gives it a really cool feel. No one else would do that.

I also think the "we were meant to live together..." bridge has the same feel as "In A Large Room With No Light". (I'm not comparing the songs btw). I think Tamar's voice blends really well with Prince's here.
Not to mention the song kicks live... This, "The Word" and maybe the title track are the only songs off 3121 that I still play regularly.

What are your thoughts on GOTB, people?

I love it. I was going to start a thread about GOTB. You beat me too it. It has been on repeat for about 2 weeks. I can't get enough of that song.

i'm not too fond of it, but taste is subjective, so to each his or her own.....

i just hope this isn't a song that he tries to shove down everyone's throat. personally, i hope it isn't played at all during the upcoming tour.

You're not wrong =) I love this song, its such a solid groove, and I like the solos, I can hear it in my head already, and I like the breakdown in the middle of the song. Yeah, its not the most original, but for what it is, it works

I don't really care for it.

This is the one song I usually skip on the CD, but it's one of the first to stick in your head once you've heard it performed live.

i like some aspects of it but he could have made it a little
less bland. the percussion at the end is so cool it's almost
like i can hear bits of "sympathy for the devil" in it but i
hate how it only lasts like 10 seconds.

typical prince, throw in some great idea for 10 seconds when
you could build an entire song on it.

plus the fact that this track closes off the album does not,
at least imo, feel right. it's more like a second or seventh
track or whatever but not the final track.

I just started listening 2 this song more and now I can't get it out of my brain. Personally I think it's a pretty tight groove, the way it starts off with that blast of music the vocals it does make me wanna dance. 2 thumbs up 4 it!

Get on the boat is just an OK song, but then again, all of 3121 is just OK. Nothing making my eyes pop out of my head.

I also hope he doesnt play a 20 minute version of this live when he comes to London, I want the precious time reserve for great songs, not OK songs.
