I am interested to know what your favourite single release is, and was curious to know if the ones that made no.1 or 2 would actually be the favourites of the real fans, as well as the general public.
I am a great fan of 'mountains' as a single. I think it is a PERFECT pop song, and was actually worthy of a release, unlike some of the stranger choices for singles.

I love Mountains too, and a lot of people love the 12 inch version, but still don't seem to think Mountains was single worthy.

A lot of people thought Girls and Boys should have been the secondd Parade single. But, I think Mountains is a much better song. Of course, the singles aren't always the best songs.

Love that song. Bought the sheet music to it.

Love it - the regular version and the 12". Thought it was a poor choice for 2nd single, but that doesn't reflect how much I love the song. I just think other tracks (Girls & Boys, in particular) were more commercial.

I absolutely adore "Mountains" as a single.

My favorite Prince single (and single by any artist, for that matter) is "1999". More than any other song, it is responsible for me getting into music.

I dig Mountains big time...funky and funny and love the 12 inch. I also loved If I was your girlfriend as a single..did nothing on the charts but still a great single for the fans! Also loved Gold, it scored in Britain, made it to #10 but did nothing in the USA. Can't understand that though!!!

Hmmm...then there are songs that should have been released as singles, these come to mind...all possible great singles choice in my oppinion:

Anna Stesia
Strange Relationship
Come on
Soul Sanctuary
Erotic City

Great song, great single, isn't on The Hits, The Very Best Of... or Ultimate...!

It's certainly 1 of the best.

It stunned me that it was relatively ignored compared to "Kiss" cuase I like Mountains a whole lot more than Kiss.


And when I discovered that there was an extended version, I flipped (when I was young, I was ignorant of the fact that Prince had maxi-singles, b-sides, etc. )

but as 4 my fav all time single, its maybe in my top 20
