My opinion on this is a little long winded. I beleive Prince to be a very calculating kinda guy, I think the whole thing started with the idea that he new how much publicity a young black man in high heels could generate and at the same time he needed to address what he probably veiwed as a major obstacle, his height. Then what happened? well the girls went crazy over him is what happened, and the guys, they felt liberated from all the macho grunting and felt that maybe they could nurture the feminine element within their own psyche and that they wouldn't explode or anything. In fact he was redefining heterosexual masculinity. It's interesting how much homophobia Prince brings out in people. In my experience the 'gay community' don't care for Prince as any kind of icon but they leave him alone cos they understand about freedom of expression. If only the heterosexual community could show the same intelligence.
So let me just clear things up with regard to the perfume question, homosexual means taking for a sexual partner someone of your own gender. Can you explain what the hell that has to do with smelling good?

Prince isn't gay just because he's releasing a perfume. Whoever thinks that has got to get that 5th grade mindset outta here. He's just expanding his market influence and gettin more $$. And many other designers are over 50 (which Prince isn't btw) and have perfume collections: Valentino, Armani, Gucci, etc etc.

P.S. Whatever happened to "gay" meaning happy?
