I think it would be cool if you bought Planet Earth and when you accessed the online features, it said something like, "Did you like this CD? Want to hear the next part? Download it here for $XX". And then when you downloaded the second CD, you'd get the same message about a third CD.

That would be cool and very low-cost to Prince, since if I read Giovanni's post right, he's already recorded a lot of extra material.

The pick-list 4 this cd contained at least 40 songs.....

Doing a multidisc release with folks requesting discs beyond the first would certainly test the old "Emancipation was too much music for people to digest" theory, now wouldn't it? hmmm

Yeah. If PE is really good, you know a decent percentage of people would buy disc 2. Especially nowadays, where music seems to have a shelf-life that's measured in hours.

....it was the quality of the music, not the voluminous nature of "Emancipation" that was hard to digest

Are you kidding? There's a decent percentage that would buy 2 and 3 even if disc 1 sucked.

I don't know whether to laugh...or blush! lol

You might not think that way if you had obtained Emancipation one disc at a time.

Yeah, I'm one of them. But you know the kids these days, always wanting what's "new". If there's a hit or two on PE #1, the kids would jump all over #2.

If there WAS a PE #2, how quick would you make it available if you were Prince? Immediately? A week after PE#1 drops? A month?

Yes it would work on me unfortunately.

I buy all Prince albums (CDs)
I don't like hardly any of his new stuff, but curiosity mixed with hope, keeps me buying.

and most of us here whether you are a fam and excited love everything
or like me ...like the older stuff much better, (miss the good album (cd) covers too!)

I'd tie it to moves on the tour. New city...new disc.

It would be possible, considering the amount of material he's recorded since '3121', but it wouldn't be easy 2 do, unless he made it 3 volumes, and labeled them as such... Kind of like what was planned 4 Maxwell's next release.

Whatever did happen 2 the Maxwell release? Anyone know?

Stop dreaming guys. The album will be short. It will not be a masterpiece. It will not be groundbreaking. It will not be his best since SOTT. There will be tracks on it you're gonna love and other ones you're gonna hate (i.e Somewhere here on earth = zzzzz).

But it will be a pleasure to listen to some new Prince music, I'm sure. wink

This is basically what happened with Exodus back in 1995. The CD booklet said something along the lines of "For the next installment of New Power Soul on cassette, call 1-800-New-Funk" (which was amusing since Exodus wasn't available in the US). I called New Funk from the UK, and was told that the New Power Soul casette, the follow-up to Exodus, would be available in the Summer. This was back in 1995, remember... It would be interesting if Prince was now trying a more virtual approach 12 years later.

Graycap--To answer your question...I think it would be cool if he did release 3 different versions. Me being the hopelessly devoted fan that I am I'd buy all three. I would pretty much take any new music Prince would give me.

To all of you shit starters: Take it somewhere else. rolleyes If you don't like or believe Graycap FINE, but learn to be an ADULT and ignore things you don't like. Don't you guys have anything better to do than sit around and complain! Geesh... confused

It depends. If they have the same core album, but a different bonus track slapped on the different versions, I'd be pretty nonplussed. If each disc had completely different songs, I'd buy them in a heartbeat.

Are you saying three completely different tracklists, or perhaps some core

songs that are on each cd and then alternate tracks? I would think that songs

such as "Planet Earth" and "Guitar", maybe "Somewhere" would surely be on all

versions.

I am just dying with the notion of the possibility of 3 cds. Have you heard

anything that leads to this speculation?
