Yeah good length 4 an album these days. Most albums are clockin in at about 45 mins. A nice short album of quality material is the way 2 go... plus there might be the odd b-side or remix. [Edited 6/13/07 1:30am]

The album is definitely shorter than what I was told it would be some months ago. I suspect that since Prince is working with a major label, he didn't include some songs that he originally intended 2. It could be 4 many reasons though, as we all know Prince does change his mind quickly, and he likely has quite a bit more than 1 album's worth of songs recorded since '3121'. I am hoping that some of the things I've heard about this album R still represented by the tracks chosen. "He's a musician's musician..."

Could you tell us a little more about what you've heard about the album?

All THAT being said, if the album is solid, tight, and musically interesting, it doesn't matter that it's only 45 minutes.
I do know that this album was recorded rather quickly, and that is generally a good sign with Prince albums, if there was significant inspiration as a cause... i.e. 'Lovesexy' and 'Rainbow Children'. THAT being said, he does generally record very quickly, but we'll ultimately have 2 wait 2 hear what kind of inspiration was involved. Peace. G. "He's a musician's musician..."

dag, another track listing had a song called NastyNasty at 8 minutes, that couldn't be anything but fonKAY! well, i hope its worth the wait. although i'm an "old head", this will be the first release since i've been on the org, and the anticipation/speculation is driving me mad.

I thought the same thing. This is the second "tracklist" I've seen like this. If they are on the album, wouldn't they automatically be the "album" version"????? "Always blessings, never losses......"

He should do a 30-40 min album with just 6 incredibly funky cuts. That would be the bomb It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

If I'm confused (I do not wear loafers), doesn't it add up to 39:00 even? If that's the case, could this short CD be in the same realm as the rocker "Chaos and Disorder" from 1996? Could this more of a guitar-laden CD we have been waiting for? [Edited 6/13/07 8:46am]

doesn't it have something to do with each song on a cd costs extra money to print or something? i read that's why there are so many 1 track singles these days instead of all those maxi singles with a gazillion remixes and b-sides, because it's more expensive to put 4 songs on a single than just the one. made sense to me, although i don't really see how that would affect prince or his album since he's got enough cash to print up an 80 min disc i guess so it must be due to himself boiling the album down to 10 essential cuts... and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Listing each song as an "album version" could be a "clever" way of
indicating that he will also be releasing songs off of the album as alternate versions, remixes, extended, etc... right?... "Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"

Well, looking on the bright side (as I'm trying to do), this must be some pretty hot album if Prince and Columbia are willing to release something this high profile with a running time of what was, ten years ago, considered contractual obligation length in Prince terms.
I mean, I know the 80s albums were all pretty much about 40-45mins with a couple of exceptions, but that was mainly because the main-selling mediums of the time restricted the length of selling anything longer without going down the double album route. But what with the potential length a CD can handle, mixed with Prince's usual enthusiasm for releasing lots of music, there must be a damn good reason why both parties are happy to create something this short and hopefully sweet. Here's hoping for the Lovesexy of the 00s. Or failing that, just something worth listening to over and over again.
