Honestly, so do I. I'm not really excited about any of these titles, except for Lion of Judah and Revelation... there's some pretty silly ones, like Future Baby Mama and Chelsea Rodgers... PLEASE.

I'd like to believe this still isn't the correct tracklist, but it keeps popping up everywhere and an insider on Housequake has "confirmed" that it is in fact that actual tracklist.

Something interesting, however... Graycap posted in one of these Planet Earth threads saying "I wonder if different versions of the album will be released in different parts of the world" or something to that effect... then quickly changed his post to just say "I wonder *"

Hmmm... different tracklists in different areas would certainly be interesting, and it would fit with the "Planet Earth" theme. Remember the different release dates for different countries?

Didn't Maroon 5 put different tracks on their new album depending on which store it was sold at? Best Buy, Walmart, etc... all had different tracks or bonus tracks.. someone wanna add to this?

This is all very interesting.

Don't dream. The exact same track list is confirmed by Sony in France and Switzerland as well.

There is definitely a different expectation level from most of his fans with b-sides and other miscellaneous offerings.

However, at his absolute peak as a songwriter, he was rejecting great music from albums simply because they didn’t at all fit the mold, not because they were inferior.

And his extended (12”) versions of most songs are the equal to or superior of the album versions, they just didn’t work here.

17 Days
Erotic City
She’s Always In My Hair (full version)
Girl (Extended)
Computer Blue (extended version)
Hello (full version)
Alexa de Paris
Crystal Ball
Crucial

Just to name but a few.

When he consistently rejects fabulous music, simply because it doesn’t work on the album, then I’ll be convinced that he's equaling even himself. Even though I think “Rainbow Children” is a masterpiece without any b-sides or extensions at all (so it can be done).

Now if he produced something great, I’m guessing that damn song is headed for the album. It doesn’t matter if it fits, he’ll make it fit.

A lot of his albums now are not so much short stories, as collections of where he was at a given time. And decimate as you so wish.

If people want more, Prince now has so many different outlets for additional music that it would be a shame to over boil an album just to fit them all on.

Albums are not collection warehouses for pre-burning, they're mini novels.

I hope people don’t forget that in the age of the MP3, but I fear it’s already been happening.

If I buy a masterpiece, I’m paid back twenty fold over just filling my hard drive/iPod up with favorites.

“Lovesexy” is the same price as “Symbol”, but “Lovesexy” ends up being far, far cheaper in terms of usage.

Do I want to hear everything?

Sure. Dump it on an anthology or make it available as a download. I’ll listen to anything for the full story.

But on albums, please put your best foot forward. No one on this earth has 75 minutes of great material in them each year. No one.
