Is this big news? We already knew the album was going to be released. Do people like Wendy & Lisa that much? They screwed up the Parade album as far as I'm concerned and when Prince kicked them to the curb, he was able to make his masterpiece, SOTT.

They were OK, but just diluted his talent. I'm sure they have a token appearance on this album, but not more than that.

welp, time for me to put up the thunderdome and pop some popcorn, the thread's about to get spicy! lol

I'm always happy to hear new music from Prince. I love that he keeps putting out new stuff. But sorry, I just don't get all the W&L excitement. I'm happy for those of you who are happy about this, but I don't see how their collabs were any greater or lesser than any other Prince music.

Co-sign. I'm afraid that W&L + Prince lovers are setting themselves up for disappointment...all this says is that they appear on the album, not some full out Revolution reunion.

I'll laugh if the song they collaborate on is the worst one on the album. giggle

All I have to say about this is that W&L have evolved as musicians. Their collaborations with other artists usually go very well. If the song ends up mussed it's because PRINCE has a hard time collaborating and not overpowering the other artist.

If this was a full album with a lot of their input, I might be a bit more excited/worried. I think it's on a song or 2, which should be fine.

Rumor is, it's only Wendy on the new album. NOT Wendy and Lisa. I'm only sayin'....

hey, ive already said i am only expecting a minor collaboration...probably something along the lines of what he did to kate bush and ani difranco's contributions...hide them. lol

the man just can't handle strong woman anymore...it would seem. lol

Or where Tricky collabed with them I think they did a piano plink while he got high or something.

It's on the import of Angels with Dirty Faces. ELeven turned me onto those tracks. You can't even hear them...that and the tracks aren't all that. I sort of felt that way with the Mitchell Froom album too.

Now on Neil Finns album and songs like Bring it On By Seal, you can really hear their voices and the music they are playing.

even though i don't think they do any backing vocals, you can definitely hear their style (at least lisa's piano) on the bettye lavette (sp?) album...though if i remember correctly, almost the whole girl bros. crew showed up on that one.

Not sure about the first one, but they are on One All/Nil. Sheryl Crow and a few others are on it too. W&L helped write some of the songs and The Climber is one of the better songs.

Ok, my ass has been burned more times by Prince than I count, but damned if this news doesn't get me geeking all out again. All I know is, the last time, he played with (and arguably wrote about) Wendy was "Reflection" and it was one of the best thing he'd done in ages.

[quote:dc1abb4b61]The whole Musicology feel that existed when he was with Columbia was great. Add Wendy and Lisa to the mix, and it could me another big album for him. However, can Columbia get him radio airplay in the U.S. (which was the case with the Musicology singles)?[/quote:dc1abb4b61]

musicology garnered alot more airplay with call my name which did pretty good on the adult urban charts i think it reached like #1 on that chart! it got the same audience as madonna got with hung up which doesnt say alot but its better then nothing

Definitely. People forget how big Call My Name was in 2004. Regular R&B listeners know however. Yeah, it was #1 for 4 weeks on Urban AC radio. I believe that it was #4 for all of 2004. In fact, it even ended up being in the top 20 most played for 2005. Even Musicology was in the Top 10 on Urban AC for a week or two. Also, On The Couch and What Do U Want Me 2 Do were played every day on XM radio. Anything close to this for Planet Earth would definitely work for me.
