It would be nice if "Guitar" was a hit. It deserves to be. 10 to 15 years ago, it might have been. I just do not see it happening in 2007. i can't either but ya neva know "we make our heroes in America only to destroy them"

It does have a lot going for it - it's danceable, full of guitar (obviously ), the lyrics aren't too weird, has a great video (from what we've seen so far), backed by the big boys (Verizon/Sony), all on the backdrop of a major up and coming tour (supposedly)...
So I guess if anything is going to get to #1, then this is probably the one. But it won't happen Toejam @ Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

I'll be surprised if it cracks the Hot 100. I hope it does, though. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

The only way this single is going to do any business on the charts whatsoever is if it ends up on iTunes and everybody downloads it 5 times.

I'm just glad that he's wailing on that axe of his. Yeah.,,just like Black Sweat! Exactly. "Black Sweat" was a much better, much more radio-friendly and much more Princely song. It had a better video as well. I'm not trying to diss "Guitar", but I don't see it making much chart impact at all. I'll be only too happy to be wrong, though. I can see it doing well on Radio 2 in the UK.
It's a weird song in the way it's structured; with its long instrumental break pretty near the start of the song. It reminds me a lot of Peach in that respect. I do love the bit when he says "U know the rest".

Ther are thousands of his tunes that were potential hitz, but some SUITE will take your ART, and then rape, rop and molest you, while YOU STARE at a CON tract. I'm getting upset here!

I can't remember off hand what the last figure I saw was at the time I was researching those... but it was listed as 500k+ US units SOLD, according to Billboard/Soundscan, around week 17 or 18 of it's chart run and that was like 9 or 10 months ago.

I don't have a problem with it selling 500,000 btw I just want to make sure we're talking about the right number.
