It would be nice if "Guitar" was a hit. It deserves to be. 10 to 15 years ago, it might have been. I just do not see it happening in 2007.

i can't either but ya neva know

It does have a lot going for it - it's danceable, full of guitar (obviously lol), the lyrics aren't too weird, has a great video (from what we've seen so far), backed by the big boys (Verizon/Sony), all on the backdrop of a major up and coming tour (supposedly)...

So I guess if anything is going to get to #1, then this is probably the one.

But it won't happen wink

I'll be surprised if it cracks the Hot 100. I hope it does, though.

This song is pure pop. Commercial as hell. It's very polished. He's very sharp in the video. And Verizon is gonna do their thing with it. Remember "Vertigo" and itunes?
I'm just glad that he's wailing on that axe of his.

The only way this single is going to do any business on the charts whatsoever is if it ends up on iTunes and everybody downloads it 5 times.

Exactly. "Black Sweat" was a much better, much more radio-friendly and much more Princely song. It had a better video as well. I'm not trying to diss "Guitar", but I don't see it making much chart impact at all. I'll be only too happy to be wrong, though.

I can see it doing well on Radio 2 in the UK.

It's a weird song in the way it's structured; with its long instrumental break pretty near the start of the song. It reminds me a lot of Peach in that respect.

I do love the bit when he says "U know the rest".

We can't predict exactly what the BUiSNESS may do w/ you, but P. has got the grip on 'em ,FINALLY!
Ther are thousands of his tunes that were potential hitz, but some SUITE will take your ART, and then rape, rop and molest you, while YOU STARE at a CON tract.
I'm getting upset here!

You realize that INCLUDES US sales, too, right? 3121 has sold well over 500k in the US alone. In fact, it did that in just the first 4 months after release.

500,000? that's gold. so are you sure that's the number SOLD or the number the RIAA has as shipped

No billboard listed the album as selling over 500k. I can't remember off hand what the last figure I saw was at the time I was researching those... but it was listed as 500k+ US units SOLD, according to Billboard/Soundscan, around week 17 or 18 of it's chart run and that was like 9 or 10 months ago.

hmmm well, they do also list symbols next to titles indicating platinum, gold and diamond. that's not what you're thinking of, is it?

I don't have a problem with it selling 500,000 btw biggrin I just want to make sure we're talking about the right number.
