some Princely info you probably didn't know I found this info on another message board, it was posted by Chris Moon's son-in-law...thought you guys would like to see it.
Here are a couple that I remember. Chris told me that Prince had his heart set on being a pop star but he was really shy in the beginning and wouldn't sing because he was self-conscious about his voice. So, to get Prince to sing Chris locked him in the booth (or some other place of a similar nature, I don't remember the exact details)and didn't let him out until he sang. Another one is that Prince originally wanted to call himself Mr. Nelson and was ardently opposed to calling himself Prince and doing the regal thing with all the purple and what not, apparently there were a number of heated arguments fueled by this topic; we all know who won that battle, and it was probably the correct decision. The last little bit of info that I remember is Chris would give Prince money every day for the bus ride home from the studio and a little extra for some ice cream.
How cute! | |

So should we lock Mr. Nelson up somewhere, until he agrees to come up with a new version of that Planet Earth cover? Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

Seriously, it's time for Purple Rain, Episode 1. The Pre-Purple Rain Story. Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

Chris had everything turned up to the max and they still weren't geting an volume from Prince so he had Princelay on his back in the booth and turned off the lights to make Prine more comfortable and to maximize his voice.
I have the interview on tape but I don't recall the "Mr. Nelson" part. He said that Prince wanted it to be "Prince Nelson" and Chris said "no" and Prince said "well that is my name." Chris was laughing and said that he finally convinced Prince to just go with "Prince." I know Chris had a little something to do with "Soft and Wet" (I think - I know it was one of his earlier hits) but on Larry King Prince said "Someone but their name slips my mind." You know Prince isn't going to give any credit...that fool (Chris) would be running the bank, friends, and everyone else showing that. It's listed on the back but still P ain't saying anything on live air... Peace Prime aka The Kid

i think Mr. Nelson would make an interesting album title
so we'd have Prince, and then Mr. Nelson as albums. wonder what the songs would be like on Mr. Nelson

I think we should call him Mr Nelson....
He deserves the respect...Mr Nelson, I like it Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

heres one, the boss Mr. McGee in raspberry beret was actually TC Ellis's dad who gave prince a job at his convienent store. according to TC's dad, prince lasted a couple of days, meandering and lazy always thinking about music. Prince and Andre did share one girl that i know of by the first name Javoni. A black girl with upper middleclass background, she wasnt from over north minny. She showed me some pretty "cosy" pic's of the 3 of them.Jerome and Terry are half brothers, jerome was a stud athelete.

Nice! Here's one: To get that Sexy quality in his songs, While recording Chris Moon had Prince lay down on the floor while singing, that's probably why Prince would usually lay on the floor at hs concerts when he sang a love song!
