WILL PRINCE EVER PERFORM IN AFRICA

PRINCE HAS PERFORMED IN MANY PLACES AND MANY TIMES. BUT HE HAS NEVER PERFORMED IN AFRICA. DO YOU THINK HE SHOULD PERFORM IN AFRICA? IT'S NO SECRET THAT HE DITCH THE USA FOR AFRICA BENEFIT TO GO HANG OUT WITH LISA AND WENDY. SO, PRINCE.ORGERS WHAT GIVES? JUST ABOUT EVERY AFRICAN-AMERICAN ENTERTAINER AND A LOT OF WHITE ONES HAVE DONE SOMETHING IN AFRICA. WHY HASN'T OUR BOY DONE ANYTHING? PERSONALLY, I THINK HE'S AFRAID. BUT I KNOW MANY AFRICANS WHO WOULD WELCOME A CONCERT BY THE ONE AND ONLY PRINCE.

There's always a possiblity, I never would have thought Madonna would go to Africa, much less adopt an African child. Never say never!

South Africa is 'economic', if you got no problem with playing to an all white crowd. Black eyed peas noticed this 2/3 years back and decided to play a free concert a few days later. Btw, a tour isn't just about the money, it's about promotion too!

Prince has been to Egypt, and/or some other north African countries. I believe it was with Mayte to give you a time frame... Not sure about performing...

They sure aren't. Cape Town is booming & a lot of US celebs have been vacationing there adding to the tourism. Plus I heard they were building nuclear plants & stadiums there.

nod Now that we've established they can afford tickets lets make sure they leave their spears at home and the ladies wear shirts... It kills me how the media has successfully narrowed the vision of Africans in most of the world's eyes...
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

No prince has never been to africa but for morocco and maybe egypt which in the true sense isnt africa! only sub sharan africa is usually considered africa

The problem with doin a tour in africa is not everyone is into R&B or Rap! I mean in africa most ppl like Rumba and other local kinda music!
south africa is more commercialized so thats why u seen some acts go there!and the Radio there plays all the top40 u see here and they also have a huge population many african countries have only 10mil population spread out over many cities and the radio plays music aimlessly and i dont think any singer has a loyal following!
most of the middle class which r potential audience is very small

South africa was just in apartheid about 15yrs back so the disparities r still there! most whites r richer no wonder BEP played to mostly white crowd. south africa has like 5mil whites and 23blacks i think

Asq wrote, "No prince has never been to africa but for morocco and maybe egypt which in the true sense isnt africa! only sub sharan africa is usually considered africa"

To quote Wikipedia, "The continent of Africa is named after the Roman province. The Arabs later named roughly the same region as the original province Ifriqiya, a rendering of 'Africa.'" The article continues, "Africa was a province of the Roman Empire. It roughly comprised the territory of present-day northern Tunisia, as well as the Mediterranean coast of modern-day western Libya along the Syrtis Minor." Another Wikipedia article on the continent of Africa reads, "Afri was the name of several peoples who dwelt in North Africa near the provincial capital, Carthage. The Roman suffix '-ca' denotes 'country or land'."

Historically, then, the parts you write that are "usually considered africa [sic]" are actually the least African in that they are outside the borders of the Roman province after which the entire continent was named. Therefore, the farther south you go, the less "African", in the historical context, is the locale. Currently, the entire continent is named Africa, with no bit of it considered less African than any other because the entirety of the continental landmass is, in fact, Africa. To be factually correct one would not say or write, "The continent of Africa consists of the entire African landmass, except for those parts that I don't consider Africa", because there is no historical, cultural, political or social reason to separate northern Africa from Sub-Saharan Africa as a continent. Yes, there are many differences in culture, society, ethnicity, climate and geography between northern and southern Africa, but so too are there on any continent, for example India in comparison to China which are both on the Asian landmass. Even within those areas there are significant differences, as there are in the peoples of Sub-Saharan Africa; the peoples of Sub-Saharan Africa are by no means homogeneous, consisting of a multitude of ethnic groups and cultures.

It would behoove individuals to read and understand historical and social context before posting or saying comments that have no basis in fact. Unless one does so, the spread of ignorance will further diminish society as a whole and the very individuals who persist in perpetuating, through their own inaction, that same ignorance.
