For me, Exodus is a really underrated album - Get Wild, The Good Life, Big Fun and The Exodus Has Begun are all really cool songs (although Cherry Cherry is a load of pants). Get Wild is just so damn fonkay...

New Power Soul is ok, with Come On, I Like Funky Music and The One, but the rest of the album is pretty flat and boring. The NPG line-up on Exodus was, IMO, the best band he's ever had and u can hear it in the music, whilst the one on NPS lacked the tightness.

Anyone agree?

I hardly listen to either album. Exodus-the song- is great, and the One & Wasted Kisses are great songs. Get Wild was equally as bad as the perfume.
BTW, I think Goldni**a is a much better than both of them. I love Johnny, 2gether, and GoldN pt2. "Honey, one of us is gettin' saved...""...then rescue me baby".

Can anyone tell me whether Prince sings lead vocal on either the Exodus or Gold Nigga albums and if so, on which tracks? I am considering getting these albums if he actually sings on them. Also, does he sing on the 1-800-New Funk album?

They both good but Exodus is funk personified by comparison

NPS sucked donkeys.

I think musically, Exodus is slightly better, but I can't stand the segues. The first time you hear them, they're funny, but I always just skip over them now - they just go on too long. The first 5 tracks of NPS are sweet, then it gets a bit lame (although Wasted Kisses is a classic). Exodus is more consistent, but some of the longer jams such as Exodus (the song) and Big Fun are a bit dragged out. Overall: Exodus 7.5/10 NPS 7/10

I like the Exodus album better than New Power Soul.

I would say 50/50 since I think Exodus is musically better than New Power Soul.And yet,there are some songs in the New Power Soul album that I really love and that are ,I think,underrated such as Wasted Kisses,Freaks On This Side and Mad Sex.
When I first listened to New Power Soul,it made me think of Exodus.I don't know why...I like them both so I kinda see them as complementary albums rather than rival.

New Power Soul for the Prince vocals alone.

I don't like Exodus at all really.

The Good life is an awesome wet yo pant funkdified jam. But the icing is Mashed Potato Girl. Besides, like Rave, NPS is so consumer driven.

Funny...to this day I let the segues just play in Exodus...maybe it's because I'm never near a skip button, but it's become part of the "whole" album for me and I don't mind them at all.

Btw...Hallucination Rain is some really cool shit!
