Would you ever date a non Prince lover/fam?

Hi All,

I assume that a few of you will tell me that you will at least try to convert them... razz
If this does not work, will you ever consider dating someone who can't stand Prince or has very little interest in him?.
As far as I am concerned, I will find this impossible as I am listening to his music a lot and gets very animated when I talk about him biggrin

Any funny anecdotes are welcome cool

I married a non-Prince fan, and actually has some advantages.

- the funny look on her face when I start rambling on about Prince over and over again!

- the fact that she'll be home looking after the baby while I'm out at concert (and hopefully aftershows) during august and september

- and the grounding experience of a non-Prince fan. I think if she was as big as fan as me, we'd be having some serious financial issues by now. I mean someone had to stop me flying to vegas to watch P.

No, I've dropped a lot of friends because they had negative things to say about Prince, I think friends should have things in common.

My Sweetie appreciates Prince as a musician and performer, but that's as far as it goes. He went to Vegas with me, but we only went to one show (I'd've done both nights, had I been by myself).

He's supportive of my habit as long as it doesn't tip over into obsession. And when he heard about the LA gigs yesterday, he read the newspaper blurb to me over the phone and said, "Well, if he's gonna be in LA, we can do that" -- even though we live in Wisconsin. lol
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

You're a pervert, Christaro, but at least you were sniffing brand new, clean panties. You're a better class of wierdo, and i'd be proud to have you marry my daughter.

One girlfriend i've had hated the guy with a passion, and thought that Purple Rain was the "most dire" film she had ever seen. The rest have all liked him to some degree, my enthusiasm usually rubs off on them

I would love to marry a die hard Prince fan but they are hard to find or even spot. Should u assume most people up front at concerts are diehards? We should have a section here for those looking for romance with a fellow true prince fan.I can honestly that I would prefer a die hard like me. Whom else would truly understand?

the last person i dated thought prince died after "purple rain" and that he was a full-on homosexual, and when i brought him up to date and made him a sampler compilation, he told me his favorite prince album was "N.E.W.S." confused

we are no longer together.

Anyone who wouldn't date someone just because they don't like him has a serious problem! If it was someone who bad mouthed him everytime you mentioned his name or were listening to him tho is a different matter.

I'm married to a non-Prince fan!!!! Its hard not having anybody to talk to about him, hence my daily fix on the Org!

BUT.....things have slowly changed over the years, altho I'm highly unlikely to find him listening to his music, he loves me sooo much that he was prepared to go to Vegas to see him, just for my benefit (but we wanted to go in June & then the Vegas thing finished) he came to the Koko club with me when he was REALLY ill with some gastroenteritis(??) thing & let me scream at the front with some Orgers while he sat near the toilet all night! He did confess after that he thought Prince was talented & he couldn't fault him! He has watched Musicology & Purple Rain DVD & sat glued to them both! & he is coming to the O2 with me!!! Ahhhh!

So non-Prince fans as partners aren't that bad really!!

I guess it would kinda depend.

But in the ways of love, I'm pretty pathetic.

I haven't had one boyfriend and I'm almost 21...

hmmm maybe that's why I like Prince so much... but I think he's more like a good friend when I listen 2 his work.
In the meantime, he's taught me about things I haven't experienced yet, but that's beyond the point.

At this point, I would most likely date anyone I had a few things in common with. It'd be a bonus if he was a Prince "fan", but if he goes as far as to insult him on a daily basis, I've got no business with someone like that.

Non-fans are ok, but haters I wouldn't be able to deal with.

Yeah I agree with you, let's face it when someone slags him off:

1) They have no clue what they are saying as we know his talents
2) It hurts first but at the same time I feel sorry for them razz

It is so nice sharing his music with other people.
I offered two tickets to two girlfriends to see him in September in London, the look on their faces was priceless!.

If I met a guy who shares the same passion this is definitely a "+" but if a guy can't stand him that will be a big turn off smile

Your time will come girl! there is no rush for love, be happy as a person, enjoy life and people will come naturally to you.

Did anybody meet someone who looked like Prince or dated one? just curious (gossips, gossips, razz )?

i think i need someone who at least understands and appreciates the music i like, even if it's not their bag. and i need to be able to do the same for them. music is too important for me. to not be able to at least speak the same language about music is really important, with friends or with a partner. nod

I am with you on this! Music is very important in my life, I can tolerate the lack of knowledge as long as the person is interested in discovering new styles.

Thanx.
And while being single, I think Prince has already given me advice on love thru his work, so that's a good bonus.

As for ur question, I think I did know somebody who starred in high school musicals that kinda looked like Prince.
Oddly enough, he's gay & Prince is straight. And they do have their physical similarities. Life's funny like that.
Mr. "high school musical" was incredibly talented, though. I haven't seen him in years, so I miss him at times.
Their skin tones are similar, but he was more of Greek/Italian descent

you know. i've never been with a fellow prince lover but the older i get the more i'm starting to feel it wouldnt hurt. the woman i was dating last tried to give me some during halftime of the superbowl LOL. no doubt my ex is fine but it wasnt a romantic/spontaneous thing it was more of a control thing. silliness. i'm also tired of crazy chicks who question your manhood if you like prince, as if you didnt just have them calling you papi an hour earlier. i look forward to dating a woman who is down, it wouldnt hurt and it would give us one more thing we could enjoy 2gether.

Sure. There's more to life than Prince. And if Prince fandom is a deal-breaker, then you're not actually looking for the right thing.

But it's irrelevant to me, because my lover is a big Prince fan. We actually met because of him, indirectly. smile
