quite a bit of Morris Day and Andre Cymone stuff, IIRC. and a lot of Wendy & Lisa stuff. but that was a much more collaborative relationship, so I don't think he outright stole from them. they were on the payroll. Kiss...(arrangement wise) once i heard the original acoustic blues version and the mazariti version- i never looked at the same again (it wouldn't be the hit it was 2day with mazarati's version tho)

I believe that I heard that Wendy and Lisa wrote Mountains or had some type of input in its lyrics. Were they credited for it?

well, an essential part of Purple Rain, the opening chords with those gorgeous 9ths, was Wendy's input. I can't imagine the song starting with straight major chords, it would not be the same.

I do not know why threads like this hack me off so much, but to think Prince is a thief is just beyond bizarre. Stop trying to make him sound like Joyce Hatto.
Geez, would a thief have called Journey and given them a heads-up on "Purple Rain", and even offered to pay them? This thread is

I think it's a major ingredient of the song, but I'm not calling him a thief! Calm down a bit...

It is worth pointing out that for every song prince has been accused (often rightly) of "miscrediting", there's a gang of songs that he has not taken credit for which he definitely could have. "What kind of fuck ending is that?"
