I respect Prince's ideas very much, not always agreeing witht them, and I don't think that this one was really all THAT bad. but I just don't think he should of put it up in PAisley newz, becuase it would hurt someones feelings. I do hgowever have no problem with Prince sharing all of his beliefs. BTW, religion and funk DO mix.

Regardless on how one feels on atheism/religion, it has been statistically and experimentally proven that having a religious belief system aids tremendously in recvery for those with health problems. Not saying recovery is due to the divine, but the belief system itself is a positive mediator/moderator to good health overall...good god.

prince, this year the NPGMC has been pretty. . . uninteresting. must you add insult to injury??

First this particular item is in the free section, nothing to do with the paying members.

And what exactly did he say that was so wrong? Last time I checked atheists do in fact believe that they aren't going anywhere when they die. Granted there is definitely a bit of "smart-assness" in the remark, but I guess that's reserved for prince.org. wink

Little by little I notice how atheists espouse their views just as vehemently as some religious zealots. Prince the odd one from the beginning posts some statement(s) and everybody loses their fuckin mind lol Why cant folks just dance.

Have you all had a humour transpant?

Prince does not suggest the Athiest is going nowhere.

The Athiest BELIEVES he is going nowhere. Thats what being an Athiest essentially is. Athiests are not be confused with Agnostics or those who 'aren't sure'.

PRINCE DOESN'T BELIEVE IN HELL.

OK, now that I have your attention, I say it again. Prince doesn't believe in hell, nor do any JW's. They believe in resurrection to eternal life after armageddon. All non believers will be judged eternally damned, in other words, dead forever.

So if the JW's are right, there is no fire and brimstone for us to look forwards to. If the catholics are right, then that's what you gotta watch out for. Oooh, now I've really started something.

What is the fuss about? Everyone knows that when you die your soul goes up to the gates of heaven where if you were bad you are dragged screaming to hell by a pack of demons where it is really really hot and you burn for all eternity. If you are good you sprout wings and are admitted into heaven which is up in the sky and you are happy forever and ever and you get to do all the things you always wanted to do.

You people who have no faith are just going to have to wait until the Prince of Darkness burns the skin off your bones. Then you will wish that you had of been more compassionate, loving, and tolerant.

Can you blame anyone for becoming atheist after putting up with the flood of zealous religeous fanatics who spend their life harassing others and making them feel like shit in the name of "God"?

Their just as much to thank for why people give up on organized religions and a relationship with a god. They distort the truth so much, people don't know what to believe sometimes.

Just curious, because I certainly recall seeing descriptions of Hell in the Bible during my 9 years of Catholic gradeschool, how on 'earth' do they overlook the idea of "Hell" when its described so many times in so many variations of the Bible???

The flipside of that is how many people have committed suicide because theyre ashamed of themselves due to religious teachings?

How many people in general live in shame, and are constantly under unecessary and unhealthy stress due to opinions and actions of their peers in the church?

I agree a healthy relationship with a god of some sort gives you a goal, a sense of being. But theres another side to it all as well.

We get at least one Prince album per year, with, apparently, multiple releases this year. How does that possibly translate into "no music"?

you do raise good points and i stand corrected- the post is in the paisley news section so it's not really member news.

i'm just . . . feeling disappointed because, imo, the club is going nowhere fast and it could be SO interesting. it could actually make people take note and buy stuff!!! think about it. what if prince had an online journal, (even just two sentences a day, whatever's on his mind) a photo gallery (pics of him rehearsing, shooting the shi% whatever). he could even have tiny snips of songs for review and comments, a message board, a chatroom, art gallery for his doodles and oh. . . so many other cool features. the NPGMC could seriously rock, but instead it's stagnant.
and the reason i take issue with his 'religious' remarks is because, of all the things he could be sinking time and energy into, the NPGMC website would be the one to work on, imo. it is his direct link to the customer base he's trying to reach. and you know from the things folks have said on here that they are ready for a change on the website. but these days it seems like he's obsessed with his religion to the EXCLUSION of other stuff. like the 'news' section. the ratio of religiously tinged commentary to actual news is . . odd. imo. and, knowing that the JW faith requires a set amount of (read: time card) witnessing, i feel like he's doing a bit of that to us, and we're his captive audience.

mind you i don't hate the guy or wish him ill, but i'm irritated that others with less talent than he are carrying the day in a world he helped create. doesn't he care anymore?! he was one of the first to pioneer the concept of independent online publishing/marketing fer cryin out loud.

nor can i bridge the gap between his words and his actions. why invest in another mansion when the foundation of your home is crumbling from neglect??? is that really godly??? i just don't get where he's coming from at all anymore. . sad

ps: and i should add i'm an armchair critic because don't know what it's like to be a rockstar - all his obligations and the burdens he must carry. actually i don't much envy him that. so i'm sorry prince, wherever you are (australia, toronto, new york, ask the press!) for saying mean things about you but, oh bother i guess disappointment sharpens my tongue at times.

better to have nowhere to go than going anywhere with persons so narrow-minded as those who publish such statements.

I do pray (the pun intended) that Prince withholds from such comments during ONA tour in Europe. Too many people here don't give a damn about religion, especially an organized one. After all, it is here where freeing individuals from religion started so now Prince can voice his opinions without any constraints.

He has a right to comment on whatever he feels, it is his concert, and if you don't like it, please don't go. do you really thing Prince cares what you think, just like you don't care what he thinks. well maybe you do, thats why you are upset.

Yeah, and when everyone stops going coz his concerts have become some kind of freak cult gathering, he will care VERY much what I and any other fan thinks...

The man has gotta learn to keep his day job and his personal beliefs seperate. Simple as that... Then we will all be happy, irrelevant of our beliefs or his...

=== NONE of u ppl will ever stop going to see prince or buying his music no matter what he says until he actually says he only wants ppl who believe in God to have anything to do with him and his. u know already that he most likely feels this way by things he says and does. does he have 2 actually post "no admittance" signs to his concerts, site, and music? he's already tellng u in his "usual way" he tells things to people...and i think he mentioned it at a concert in so many words...whenever he comes out with his thoughts on God and religion, the non-believers just complain a blue streak, and threaten his fan base will collapse. i dont think he CARES ppl.! he's not going to change his views and beliefs to keep fans he doesnt feel comfortable with. maybe he cant accept ppl who dont believe in God. those ppl just have to accept that unless he actually says otherwise, and u know deep down u feel that too. so dont keep harping at him and his popularity if he doesnt welcome everyone. maybe he cant. it's his choice to make, even if it hurts certain ppl with other beliefs. i'm sure he doesnt intend to hurt anyone, and thats why he probobly has a hard time expressing it, but it comes out in ways such as on his site and probobly why he asks us to surrender to him and him to us to make us ALL want to worship God with him. he DOES have a right ppl, to decide who to associate with or have in his club, as hard as it is to accept 4 some. read between the lines.
May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love. hug kisses

Sorry universa

Have to explain this again, we got at least one release a year when was with warner.

This year we received the ONA cd (33 mins), can't count Rainbow Children because that was last years download for October club members. We MAY get a 3 cd live set by years end, that too, will be released in the retail stores.

I have bought more Prince bootlegs this year than actual Prince/npg releases:

Xenophobia (12 cds), Chicago (2), NYC (6), Fillmore (2), 12 and B-sides (20 cds) All this year alone, just to name a few

He better quit trippin on people before he has no fans left.
