Next time we request NY, we're gonna have to be more specific. Worse than Butter? Butter was only $121.03 when he gave that private party last year which awesome! Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality? - Stupify

i guess it depends on who u think he was born to play for. as a fan its understandably frustrating to not be able to afford the tickets, but maybe the financially humble people dont fit into the scene of illusion coma pimp and circumstance @ 15k a seat? not that there's anything wrong with that, but i'd rather see him in an intimate no fuss simple setting. anon said: 2elijah said: Worse than Butter? Butter was only $121.03 when he gave that private party last year which awesome! No, there was at least 100 of us NPGMC fans there for about 4 hours. We partied until the sun was rising, and we saw when Prince got into his limo and drove away after the performance. I believe we left at 4:05 am and the show started at 11:40pm . Paris was on the left side, kind of near the front sitting at a table with her friends. When she pulled up in a jeep with her friends, none of us payed her any attention. That's just how it is here in NYC, celebrities don't phase us. We're used to seeing limos and all that around the city...just another part of the scenery that's all; we don't get star struck like that. Beyonce, JayZ, Nas & Kelis were there also, but at the back at the tables. Questlove was there and Questlove played the drums during some Sly Stone tunes. Paris didn't stay that long, I think she and her crew left about an hour later. The fans filled the room. I was right up front about 1 1/2 feet away from Prince along with some other fans. Prince was on the left, middle and right of his performance area..He doesn't stay in one spot too long, he was too busy having fun performing and dancing, and also dancing with some fans that did not disrespect his space at all. It was cool. It was a very intimate and small club. No bigger than a large living room. Smaller than the main room in the Jazz Cuisine, and no tables in the center at all. Standing room only for us, we didn't mind. A few tables were on the left and right side of the room but mostly celebrities sat there. We all felt like we were at Prince's family reunion and everybody was comfortable and just partying and having a blast. No one invaded Prince's space. He walked through the crowd with no problem with his security people and so did his band members when they took a break. There wasn't a stage at all, so you could imagine how close we all were. It was awesome. During the performance Prince kept shouting "NPG Music Club!" and we shouted back the same. Then when it was all over, he went to the mic and said to the fans..."I have served you your Butter!" Butter was really the first of the smallest venues Prince played at during the 2006 Tamar tour. That was the day of the GMA performance in Bryant Park, NYC where the crowd turnout was phenomenal. I don't think there was a space left inside the park to hold anymore people. They had people on the side that couldn't fit into the park, so they just watched from the sidelines. It was awesome, and I will always have great memories of it. [Edited 5/18/07 17:53pm]

Yeah but that place was as tiny as a one bedroom apartment in Manhattan. That's why only a limited number of people could get into the place. If he does something here again, it better not be at Butter or anyplace as small or smaller than that place. [Edited 5/18/07 17:20pm] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". The fact that 50-100 people could get in, as special as I know it was, it shut out even more people who wanted to be a part of it, including me. That was a tough blow after seeing him at Bryant Park for GMA earlier that morning and you are right, GMA was fantastic. For someone as big as Prince, he needs to be in a place much bigger than that. Besides, the story say the $15k is for FIVE concerts all of them world renowned performers in their own right. So it's not like it's only Prince or like he set the price, the promoters did. Besides, they probably came up with this package and approached him to perform. If he had said no they woulda just got some other entertainer willing to get a 7-figure pay day for one performance. Prince would be an idiot if he turned this down.

Vegas was perfect cuz he was regularly in a small venue so if you were lucky enough to go a few times your odds of seeing him in an aftershow were really good.

Now, now peeps, Prince can't invite fans to everything, he does have his own life. Let's just be grateful some of us were able to see him perform in such a small venue. I never got into the main room of the Jazz Cuisine, only the outer room on both nights, but that's ok, because at least I got a chance to experience Butter.

Oh yeah, and by him inviting the celebrities, it kept the cost for fans getting in at the $121.03 price otherwise, we would have had to pay more. The celebrities covered most of the bill because they had reserved tables with liquor included. So peeps that's why I'm sure he invites the celebs, even if there are some that he really doesn't want there. The mods even mentioned when the club was up that by the celebs being there, it kept the cost for fans at a low price.

You mean about 100 got Butter...but hey I can't tell you how to feel about Butter, because it was such a small place that they had to stay within the fire department capacity rules. Plus I think Prince just wanted to have a small private party, and a few fans were better than none. Who knows, maybe he'll do it again and you'll get a chance to go next time, ya never know. It's the suits...the gentle side, that appeals to that crowd. Also, that crowd is all about the IT person. I feel the same way...and frankly, I'm sick of hearing about how great and intimate the Butter show was everytime "small venue + New York + Prince" comes up. For the people who weren't lucky enough to get tickets because the few they had sold out in less than one mutha fuckin' minute, yeah, we get it, it was fun; can we move on please? I really hope Prince does a show in NYC in addition to this Hamptons b.s....I really think he will but he betta pick a less intimate venue than Butter--I thought Nokia was pretty good, not too big, not too small. But so help me if I don't get tickets this time I'm gonna be even more than the Butter incident.

I had a few friends that didn't make it in either and I wasn't happy about it, but a few of us were conversating here about it, and if you don't want to hear about it, then don't read or respond to any threads that mentions it..point blank. Everyone else was respectable about it but you had to bring your nasty azz attitude in and there was no reason to tell others to stop discussing it...get the f over it and you move the hell on.
