Looks like a vanity plate just for the front. He's probably got a regular one on the back... but I could be wrong. shrug

You could prolly make some money if you had a bunch made and sole 'em on the org. Or is that illegal??? confused

no, that would be illegal. nobody can reproduce the symbol without paying Prince royalties since he owns the trademark/copywrights for it, and especially reproduce and sell it. in fact, whoever made this one plate, if they charged for it, actually committed a trademark violation as well and could be prosecuted or fined if Prince cared to do so.

how'd that lawsuit turn out, anyway? didn't they rule that he didn't own the symbol because the majority of it's design was based on that symbol for soapstone that appeared in a book in the 50's?

I don't knowspecifically, but it must have turned out in P's favor. look at any product with the symbol on it and it says to be a registered trademark of Paisley Park Enterprises. based on my own limited knowledge of copyrights and trademarks, the basis for such are unique executions, not that the entire thing has to be unique. thus a store like Target, which did not create the word, can trademark it for specific use.
