yeah hopefully the Truth will make up for the other 3 disks, cause so far there are no "destination" trax on them (a reason to put them on). i'll listen some more. only CB was interesting on first listen

I LOVE the first two songs on this album, and Good Love never fails to cheer me up! When first hearing this album I felt as if I'd found buried treasure, haha! Sounds like a real man to me...mind if I turn on the radio?

Nuff' said. love that track! But along with all the others who posted here already, The Truth is what makes this set worth the money and then some. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

The great thing about CB is that there's something there for everyone. A LOT of something. Anyone at all who enjoys Prince can easily make a rock-solid double album out of the trax he or she likes the best that can rival anything in their collection. If you lean towards ballads, funk, rock or whatever, it's there, and a person can really pick and choose the signature songs that make up the album for them. I love it. I wish he'd do another one just like it.

The topic came up the other week about whether Prince is a genius. Listening to the actual song Crystal Ball, then I would say yes. There are some great tracks along the first three disks and The Truth is a great album, a pity that it never got a proper album release.
But at the same time, I think that he is at times a flawed genius (aren't we all). I think that Prince should work on the mentality that sometimes "less" is "more"(a la Emancipation) . To be more of a success, perhaps Crystal Ball should have been a three CD album, rather than the four. Songs like Movie Star and Cloreen Bacon Skin are very poor, which is a pity when they are mixed in with such great tunes. Overall, a good album though.

Movie Star is very entertaining though, at least imo. Cloreen Bacon Skin goes on for a bit too long, and becomes less funny, but I would guess it was included for the nostalgia (i.e. morris day) aspect primarily. yes. a different (the original) version of it was released on the 1-800-NEW-FUNK compilation album. it's a much nicer version imo, without that DMSR bit mixed in to the song. also lasts a bit longer on the original version (04:32 mins). see if you can find it somewhere, it's a great track. [Edited 5/10/07 12:21pm] Was it not also on the 'Beautiful xperience' that was shoen on television some years ago....
